My weekend plans got pretty much deserted, so I spent the weekend doing errands/chores/cleaning and finally drawing something for a change(art excersize). AND WALKING DEAD COMES ON TONIGHT, SO WHY NOT?! LOL
This is Carmen, an OC for a lil thing Miranthia, I, and one of her friends are doing. I did a lil character sheet for mine. And I'm so enamored with her right now, that I keep building her background extensively. So excuse me while I prattle on about her.
Before the world turned to shit and walkers/zombies dominated the lands, Carmen Adela was a plus size model, not famous, but locally known in the least. She lived with her younger sister and grandmother in her condo. Her parents are both soldiers and Carmen spent half her life overseas to various countries, before her younger sister was born. She and her sister were sent to live in the US with their paternal grandmother, while their parents worked. Five years later, her mother was killed in action. Her father remained in service, though visited every holiday when he was allowed.
Her teenage years were spent in rebellion, nothing too major for a soldier's daughter, but she got into trouble and learned a few skills that came in handy for a walker-ridden wasteland. Calmed down enough to attend collage, but dropped out after she was 'discovered' and her modeling career got too busy for studying and writing essays.
The day where the outbreak came, she was busy in a shoot. When she returned home, her condo was a wreck. Scared that it was a robbery, she searched frantically for her grandmother and sister. She checked her sister's room to find her snacking on their grandmother. She wrestled with her enough to lock her in bathroom and went to attend her grandmother, only to find her already turned. Long and tragic story short, she put them both down that night.
Being from a military family, Carmen knew to be ready for anything(weather, robbery, etc.) and had an emergency pack ready with:
Her sister would complain that Carmen was too paranoid for nothing, but it's helped Carmen survive up to this point. She set off in her car, following emergency radio's instructions to a safe haven... that wasn't so safe after all.
Gun: Her father taught her. Since he's away a lot, he had no real idea how to bond with her, especially as she grew older. He discovered her interests in guns and taught her when she was sixteen how to handle one. On her eighteenth birthday, gave her her own pistol. Was 'trained' to use a shotgun. More effective in ranged combat.
Self-Defense: Has been in the fights in her youth. Some that taught her how to really take care of herself. She can handle her own in a fight and knows how to fight dirty. Otherwise, had no formal training.
Multi-Lingual: Fluent in English, Spanish, and French(learned in high school, never been to France.) She's rusty in Italian and Japanese. Would highly prefer if no one asks her to speak in those languages, since it's been awhile and used to be teased about this skill when she was younger.
Very protective of her family and friends. Prefers to be alone, but if she's comfortable with people, she's quite friendly and even affectionate. This side is mainly seen with her family and her few close friends. Otherwise, she's pretty closed off and distant. On first impression, she seems intimidating and hard. Gets frustrated/annoyed easily. Depending on her relationship with someone, she'll show off the frustration more or keep it to herself. If angered, run for you fucking life. Mainly keeps quiet and prefers to listen to others, rather than talk.
