I've made a series of life choices and the payout will be wild art but the process. Man, the process. Still ping-ponging between several things to keep myself semi focused (it works sometimes). So! DAKiss week drawing of Rook/Taash where I probably bit off more then i can chew and might need to finish this tonight and i don't know what I'm doing (help. Send help. This is a cry for help). And my bouncers are collar Alex (now with a face?) And beach episode where I still don't know what to do with Alex's arm (sunglasses are great, nobody can tell what you're staring at~)

Okay TECHNICALLY showed this off already but also the ref sheet isn’t done so it’s still a wip and let’s be honest I was gonna reblog it again anyways. New Alex tattoos. I’m really fucking excited. Kinda wanna put a few more scars on her thighs maybe. And I have a fic wip about her regene reveal to Carmen that I swear will be sex eventually fmjdmd porn with plot. Porn with exposition

The way your blood pounds in your ears drowns out even the janky whooshing of the ceiling fan. For every step forward you take, she takes on back until she's backed up against the edge of the bed. All it takes is one shove to send her toppling backwards down onto it, leaving you towering above her. "Don't fucking patronize me," you growl. You glare down at her, hair dishevelled and spread out against the crumpled comforter. With the angle she's at the sun highlights the way her body glistens with sweat. You force yourself to swallow a few times to wet your throat again, but before you can speak, you're blasted with a string of thoughts that make you sputter and step back.

"This isn't foreplay you asshole!"

Carmen stares back at you through half-lidded eyes, pompous smile spreading across her face. "Could've fooled me," she smirks, "you're doing great by the way." She shifts and stretches, you follow the way her body rolls and flexes, and clasps her hands behind her head. "Would you relax? Whatever this is, only one of us is bothered by it, and it sure as hell isn't me."

You yank your gaze away from her, not going to give her the pleasure. You fix your eyes to the right, to her shirt and bra haphazardly hanging off the dresser, the handful of little knick-knacks that got knocked down when those were tossed there, the tall mirror reflecting your own detested skin back at you. Freckled and washed out bronze skin that's hardly visible underneath the expanse of swirling safety orange that covers your torso. You look like shit and the familiar crashing wave of nausea rolls over you.

It’s July! Which means I’m either doing artfight or fighting for for my life to recover from my workweek djjdksjs but I do have a couple wips I’ve been working on in the in betweens. Carmen is more implied in the first one but have 2 Alex/Carmen sketches going on and I’m playing around with a Rook/Taash fic as well

They take her hand in theirs, weaving their fingers together, "that's messed up, you know? That they treated you like that."

"Not really when you think about it," Rook sighs, "Qunari living in Tevinter? They just wanted to keep me safe and away from any unsavoury attention."

"But it still messed you up."

"I think I'm perfectly un-messed up thank you," Rook laughs. It's easier to crack a joke and move on than dwell on it, this wasn't supposed to go this far, and it's a shitty method of cheering them up otherwise.

Taash shifts, twisting their head and shoulders around to be looking up at her. "Nah, you're pretty messed up." They pause, expression as neutral as ever before giving way to a slight smile. "But you're good like that. Means you get it."

A quick breakdown for anyone curious, Carmen Darrow (she has a surname now!) lives and works in LD as a barber, which is actually how she met Alex. She's Alex's girlfriend (besides Julia).

And now some fun facts :3

She's 34, is 5'11", and her birthday is March 18th

Her parents live in the San Diego area, and they talk very frequently. She tries to go visit once a month if she can.

A moderately okay cook, very good on a bbq though

General coffee order is either a red eye or a latte, depending on how awake she is

Not a morning person

She's partially colour blind in her left eye. It's due to an injury she got as a teenager that ended up requiring surgery

She knows that Alex is a regene and the villain, and she knew this before the end of Retribution (rip Julia). She's cool with it, very laid back for the most part, and good at rolling with what happens. She likes Alex a lot, and the villain thing is pretty hot tbh. Only thing she's in the dark about is the puppet

She has a grapevine tattoo at the small of her back. I drew it in colour but I'm still tossing up between that and monochrome

Dyes her hair pink, it's naturally brown. It's long and curly and cut into an undercut, so it isn't as thick and heavy

Big reason for butch Alex, was unintentionally very helpful to her to figure that shit out.

She's also butch herself

She does have some jewelry Alex stole for her, and does wear it rather often

Alex has wanted a kid since the beginning, back when I made her last summer. Under all the anger, hurt, and trauma is a very deep-seated desire to be a part of something and that something was always a family of her own. (Which is also why HG is going to be SO fun sjdjs) This was quite possibly imparted from her Handler in some way, but I can't actually say for certain (and while I'm here lol I have that ask, I love it, and I've had it half written for a while but it's almost there xndns)

So eventually, Alex and Carmen would try to have a kid. After all the everything is said and done, and Alex isn't keeping up 10 layers of repression at any given point in time. They'd both be towards their late 30s at this point. It was hard, real hard, took a few tries, but they got there. Carmen carried to full term, and they had a daughter. Alex is schrodinger biologically involved depending on the FHR universe logistics of that. No second kid as Carmen is high risk. Alex is sore about not being able to be the one pregnant, not because she wanted to be, she did not, but because it wasn't a choice she could make for herself. But she was extremely attentive and doting to Carmen throughout the entire thing.

Which is where the fun starts lol

Alex retired from being Vex. It just made sense to be home and not actively sticking herself in potential harms way now. She could be there for Carmen more and had the business front anyway. Which is also good because Vespera would've 100% outed her as the villain lmao

There's an infant in the house, Alex is now hyper-aware of the trials and tribulations of pregnancy and childbirth and how hard Carmen worked those 9 months. But now Vespera is here, and it's her turn and that she can work with. She stepped the fuck up. Which is great, except it left Carmen feeling like she wasn't actively involved much at all. Babies are hard, friction can happen, Elena came and helped some, and Julia moved in temporarily. With Julia being there, things smoothed out quite a bit. She could watch V and give Alex and Carmen time together, or Carmen could toss Alex and her to get some alone time. This worked great, and Julia stayed with them until V was a little short of a year old.

Vespera was a pretty fussy baby. She didn't sleep well through the night a lot of the time and wouldn't eat more often than not. Very grabby as well lol tore more then one button off of many of Alex's shirts, and Carmen ended up cutting her hair short because she reached a point where she couldn't deal with V yanking on it all the time.

Toddler-young kid V was doing much better, still pretty clingy and getting into things, though. Wanted to be a part of everything either of her moms were doing. She had an affinity for trying to mimic Alex, from taste in food to mannerisms to style. They have several matching shirts.

She came home from school with lice one while Carmen was away, and Alex shaved her head about it. Carmen could've killed her lmao but matching tia Julia was kinda neat.

And you're absolutely correct, tia Julia *is* a nightmare sndjsj Alex already is dispositioned to spoil her daughter. But she walks a fine line between doing that and not, and her and Carmen both keep each other in check. V has Julia wrapped around her finger. It's very easy to put on a big smile and ask so nicely and get what she wants.

Being the fun aunt has many perks. Maybe she shouldn't have gotten a bike so early, but her arm wasn't actually broken, and she had fun, so it's fine. And maybe she had 2 breakfasts because she lied about her parents not feeding her before dropping her off, but with Julia's cooking, who can blame her? Should she have asked before taking her to get her ears pierced? Probably, but she knew it'd be fine, and V was so excited. She did that last one a second time when V was a teenager, but it was her tongue. That one was less fine cause she inherited Alex's shitty teeth.

Vespera, as a teenager, had a lot of trouble coming into her own. She had a lot of shitty friends, and on top of getting into trouble a lot, that also made her shut her parents out a lot. Hearing about other people's folks made her sort of assume the same of her own. Not the case.

Julia's was her safe space a lot. It isn't really running away if it's your mom's girlfriends place and everyone knows where you are, but still. Plus, Julia will talk to her about stuff that Alex is less than willing to, heroes, villains, sidestep, Heartbreak, not the Farm or regenes, though. That's Alex's story.

She got suspended a lot early in high school, talking back, fighting, not showing up. There was an incident with fireworks as well. She'd spend that time working with Alex at the pawn shop. She does like that a lot, though, not much of a punishment lol she likes the shop, and it's fun watching her mom scam people. And much more fun than going to work with Carmen.

Sometime between her second and third year, she came out to Alex. In hindsight, it felt a little dumb to her to have been so worked up and scared about that, but neither of her parents gave her any sort of hard time over it. Even Alex kept the teasing to non-existent levels. Alex took her to change up her hair and get new clothing, and talked a lot about herself. It was the closest they'd been in a long while. V's bi but more lesbian leaning and genderqueer in some way, but she'd had a lot of trouble grapling with that and is only exploring it more now.

Switching schools and meeting new people would do her a world of good. And that'll probably happen now that Alex and Carmen have some sort of idea as to what's been going on.

Alex is finally happy with her life. It isn't just fine anymore, it's great. She loves both her girlfriends and her daughter. She'll never fully recover from everything that's happened, but she's doing better and isn't ignoring any bad thing that happened to her ever anymore. Life is good.

Seeing all the Step kids made me solidify future Alex and Carmen having one. I'm not sure Alex's love and want for kids is particularly well known, especially with how detached and apathetic feelings towards people, but you know trauma does that to a bitch. Alex finally gets her family and I think that's neat

Jackal specifically is incredibly fond of how Royal likes to sit/cuddle with her. They like to sit side by side, pressed up agasint her as close as they can and cross one leg over her own. Intertwined and half straddling her, head resting in her shoulder.

Akari likes to sit in Kai's lap, no matter where he's sitting. Desk chair? No problem, she'll bridle style drape herself over his lap and the arms of the chair and balance herself. For Seven, she likes to hold her in her lap. Seven likes to be held close and cuddled and Akari is always happy to comply
