I just found a click beetle in my house! I've never seen one before, but now I am totally enamored with it (I put it outside though- I didn't want our cat to try and eat it). I thought the noise it was making was the roof leaking again, but nope. It was caught under the dog's bed and clicking away. It scared me pretty bad when I grabbed it. How do they click and jump like that? Google doesn't help much on the subject.
Basically they have a little notch between their thorax and abdomen, with a special spike that can lock into it. They flex hard enough for the spike to “snap” back out of the notch, almost like snapping your fingers or maybe flipping a tiddlywink!
It's a useful adaptation for a beetle because beetles can die getting stuck on their backs, but I'm pretty sure only this group ever evolved it!

well he’s not in the vanilla version of yokai watch 3 BUT he appears in the Sukiyaki update.

What do you mean by that?
ummm I dunno much about yokai watch 2 and added gameplay elements but there’s this thing called Baffle Boards which apparently require specific yokai to unlock certain events and stuff, but that’s as much as I know!
