Hi! I definitely need help identifying this handsome fellow. He was spotted on the old barn door in Croatia. Thank you so much.

Big child! It's definitely a sphinx moth and I think most likely a convolvulus hawkmoth. The caterpillars are super variable but this one is a good fit. Adults are fairly unremarkable unless, like me, you lose your mind for any and all sphinx moths :) They look like this:

Is there a painting which you particularly like? A bit more than the rest?

I thought about this and there’s not one single painting I like above all others unfortunately. I am very fond of Ted Nasmith and Alan Lee’s artwork for The Silmarillion. It’s been my favorite book since I read it at age 12 and the feel of the world and the entire thing has captivated me since. Here, let me post some examples: 

For non-fantasy artwork I love Wanderer above the Sea of Fog, it just captures that spirit of wanting to explore the unknown like nothing else:

I’m sure there are others I am missing as well, I love historical paintings of epic battles and heroes, religious paintings and artwork as well but this is just what I can think of with a gun to my head, here are some others I quite like:

Here’s a list of some of the things Dave is afraid of:

Large dogs

The vacuum cleaner 

Lawn furniture

The hairdryer

Rootbeer

His kennel (this is a new development and we haven’t gotten him back to normal with that yet)

Construction equipment

Some of our neighbours

Water, but only when it is warm in the bathtub. If it is cold in the bathtub or anywhere else he’s fine with it.

Kittens (but not adult cats)

Thankfully he’s not afraid of a lot of things cats are normally afraid of, like the car, nail trims, thunderstorms, and strangers (aside from some of our neighbours). 

In the fall I was working on Dave’s fear of dogs with @puppyrazzi and their dog Sam, although we had to stop because of the cold weather. I did notice Dave did improve around dogs after this though!

Koja ti je najgora strana online života, da se tako izrazim?

Mnogo zanimljivih ljudi živi u pički materinoj od mene pa se vidimo jednom u 2-3 godine.

Aha i to što pogotovo u zadnje vrijeme svaka šuša ima potrebu podijeliti svoje mišljenje o svemu. Ja ne znam ništa o biologiji srdela pa o tome ne pišem. Kada bi ljudi zašutjeli o stvarima o kojima pojma nemaju, svijet bi bio bolje mjesto.
