Me and the boy went to see Star Wars: A New Hope on IMAX at The Rangos Giant Cinema... I’ve seen it at least a quarter of a million times, but on a screen like this... I was blown away. (If only it wasn’t the ‘special edition’) #starwars #carnegiesciencecenter #rangosgiantcinema #anewhope #imax #episodeiv #georgelucas #lucasfilm #starwarsmovies #originaltrilogy #princessleia #hansolo #lukeskywalker #r2d2 #chewbacca #c3po #movies #rerelease #entertainmentblog #frontrowflix #scifi #movietheater https://www.instagram.com/p/BzMpmqllrt6/?igshid=15f2jnxv9zoah
This weekend, we went to the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit at the Carnegie Science Center. While the kids had fun, I still think that I was the most impressed by this Renaissance man’s many discoveries and his dedication to the arts and sciences. My college Humanities I class covered a lot of Renaissance material, so I have been a fan since then and this really reinforced that there are so many reasons for that. Everything on display was a replica because it is a well established place for families, so it was more about the ideas and facts that came of his work rather than the energy that one would experience being close to something hundreds of years old. Still, it is amazing that there was someone who was able to dedicate so much time and energy this way and seeing 3-D and to scale representations was a very cool experience. Imagine if art, which actually supports scientific thinking (remaining curious and always asking “what if?”), were supported as much as science and engineering is today. Something else that I thought was interesting and that it was chosen as one of the works to include is the unfinished painting of St. Jerome. Yes, it’s Leonardo Da Vinci, so the value is possibly more apparent than my own pile of unfinished pieces, but I appreciated seeing that like books that we don’t finish reading, incomplete art is not a waste. #davincitheexhibition #carnegiesciencecenter #imagineexhibitions #leonardodavinci #artexperience #unschooling #unschoolingfamily #unschoolingfamilyadventures #artistslife #creativelife #artistmama #artistmomma #rennaissance #pittsburghartist #pittsburghadventures #experiencepittsburgh #creativeprocess #creativity #creativelife #artadventures #freestylelearning #artistsofpittsburgh #unschoolinglife #playislearning #learningthroughplay https://www.instagram.com/p/Bur3bN6Doh7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1uqf3l01cjnw7
CJ was very happy to be able to contribute materials for this. We can’t wait to see it! #Repost @carnegiescictr with @get_repost ・・・ Now on display at #carnegiesciencecenter: @sustainable_pgh_restaurant’s highly anticipated @strawforward art installation, a sculpture that aims to inspire meaningful dialogue around the global-scale issues of single-use plastic waste and plastic pollution🐳🐙🦅More than 25,000 straws were collected from 37 Pittsburgh-based restaurants, nonprofits, and businesses between June and October 2018 to create this sculpture. It also includes discarded plastic-based items pulled from the banks of the Allegheny River with @alleghenycw, yarn from First Mile of @threadintl that was upcycled from plastic bottles, and other repurposed materials from @cjreuse and @creative_reuse. The concept, design, and construction was developed through a partnership with @shiftcollaborative. Come check it out and learn more about the impact of plastic waste and pollution! It’s on display through Fri., Feb. 15. We recognize the importance of keeping the needs of the disability rights community in these conversations, as plastic straws and other single-use plastics improve the livability and access for people living with certain disabilities and medical conditions. @bestbuddiespgh is a partner of the Straw Forward project. #pittsburgh #publicart #sustainability #pgh #sciencemuseum (at Carnegie Science Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsqodOeh-w2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=g9pky9ssu8xe

A promising pilot trainee in the Rebel Alliance Flight Academy, his world came apart when another cadet made a foolish maneuver and crashed into his Z95 Headhunter, destroying the craft and costing him his right arm. The cybernetic replacement did not bond with his nervous system properly, rendering the arm barely functional. Bitter at his dismissal from Alliance training, he tried to join the Empire, but was again rejected. A Force-wielder, he was able to activate a Lightsaber, but his Force is too weak for the Sith to accept him. Nonetheless, he created a new persona, and, despite rejection from the Sith, adopted the name, "Darth Sinistral" ("Left-Handed Lord"). He wears an Alliance Starbird, missing a wing, as a reminder of what was lost. His Lightsaber, wielded in his human left hand, has an unusual, curved blade.
