is there any specific reason you write louis ives as he/him instead of she/her?

This is a great question. I chose to write Louis as he/him because in the context of the movie I did not see or hear anything that would have convinced me that he was anything other than he/him. 

Honestly, though the movie is up for interpretation because I don't think it gives a very good conclusion to many of the events, based on the events that I saw happen in the movie I just interpreted Louis as a man who was struggling with the feeling of being both man but a feminine man.

That being said given the context of some of the scenes I saw Louis as more of a man who had a desire to connect with the femininity inside of him by dressing as a woman but not necessarily wanting to be a woman or referred to as such. 

Here are some quotes from the movie which influenced my choice: 

“He yearned to be a young gentleman, one who wears ties and enjoys the opera. But sometimes he yearned to look in the mirror and see a pretty girl.”

“The young gentleman's heart sank. He looked nothing like what he had imagined. In fact, he was horrified by what he saw.”

“Disappointment came a great revelation. Despite his occasional penchant for women's clothing, Louis Ives did not want to transform himself. There was no woman inside him dying to get out.”

“In fact, standing there dressed as a woman, he never felt more like a man in his life.”

The first line is from earlier in the movie and the last three are from the scene just before Henry comes back home early.

every time someone calls you carol it makes me laugh because it makes you seem like a 57 year old woman who’s friends with your mom and saw you one (1) time as a child

“oh no don’t get covid carol” sounds like a facebook mom commenting on another facebook moms post about getting covid (love queen though)
