A sand dune spider of the Family Sparassidae (cf. Carparachne or related genus) standing out of its burrow at night. During the day it stayed underground, at a perfect depth and moisture, protected from most predators by closing the burrow with a sandy web trap door, which covers the entrance. Once darkness comes and the air outside gets humid again, they come out to hunt as sit-and-wait predators. CONSERVATION NOTE: this spider and all its siblings around it weren’t disturbed in any way during the shooting. But they are not present any more in that site cause a new (mostly useless) road was built there and everything was wiped out. #namib #namibia #spider #spiders #carparachne #orchesella #hunter #arachnology #arachnid #arachnida #arthropoda #sand #dune #dorobnationalpark #nabibnaukluftpark #picoftheday #spidersofinstagram @ilcp_photographers https://www.instagram.com/p/CErWwdZALva/?igshid=fnnsdm0cn228
