We all have the notion that Coachella is nothing but an overhyped, overpriced, and overrated music festival. I would look at the basic pictures posted by old high school and college peers and laugh under my breath because they all looked the same-- a person, a ferris wheel, an Indio sign, cute outfits, etc.. To me the attendees of this music festival were all slim and in shape and the whole festival seemed overrated. However, this year I was able to attend because of a last minute, impulsive decision. I bought my ticket from a college peer for $400 after bargaining my way down, i had no outfits, and no place to stay. I regretted my decision as soon as that wrist band hit my hand and the person left with a months worth of my rent. However, everything started falling into place. I had a place to stay; for free; offered by wonderful friends and I, found outfits. Friday afternoon, I hit the road with five wonderful girls. We stopped at a nearby taco bell where two of us went inside to order the food and the rest outside to decorate the car for carpoolchella. However, because of the traffic and dropping off our stuff, we were too late to participate in it. Even so, we went inside and had the time of our lives listening to old and new music artists that we loved and will later learn to love. Music acts such as the one of Kygo, Sza, and the Weekend made the above 100 degree weather, lack of food, lack of sleep, and throbbing feet so much worth the wait. The vibrations of the music shook your bones and elevated you high enough to forget all your problems and to enjoy the sounds with the thousands of people around you. Day two, we go back, completely forgetting about Carpoolchella until a guy came up to our car asking questions and then announcing we had been picked. Our friend that was driving picked the prize out of the bag and bam! We had won BACKSTAGE passes!!! The rest of the weekend went by in a blur, a beautiful and thrilling blur, filled with new adventures and new experiences with new friends made. Yes, Coachella is overpriced, no, it is not overhyped or overrated. The price is worth it when it comes to all the experiences and memories one makes, as well as, all the music acts you get to see. Also, The Weekend, Beyonce, and Eminem, well, they're all worth it. Trust me, don't knock it till you try it.
