I Steal Cheese! (VeggieTales x asdfmovie Animation)
(Yes, asdfmovie16 just came out earlier lol)
Missed opportunity in Animorphs: Dodgeball. They're middle/highschoolers in the US in the 1990s. They absolutely had to have PE classes and therefore Dodgeball.
How each Animorph plays dodgeball:
Rachel is the best, but sometimes gets disqualified when playing against Marco because he says something smart and then she drills him in the face, which is an instant out for her.
Marco is the second best, but he thinks he's the best because sometimes Rachel disqualifies herself by hitting him in the face, and that's technically a win for him.
Jake is third best at dodgeball. It's not his favorite game and he's not enthusiastic about it, which bumps him down a couple places, but he is good at catching balls thrown at him - a skill he picked up trying to play Basketball.
Cassie is the fourth best at dodgeball. She's not bad at it, she's just average, and she gets better at it over time.
Ax is the second-worst. He's enthusiastic about it and once mistakenly believed it was a training exercise, but he's uncoordinated as a human and has a weak throw as an Andalite.
Tobias is the worst dodgeballer - It's been too long since he was human, so his human coordination has slipped, and as a hawk he can't throw the ball properly. He's also not enthusiastic about it at all, so he's less fun than Ax is when it's time to play.
Honorable Mention goes to Erek King, who has aimbot and Matrix-like reflexes, but has to tone them down so he can pretend to be human. His anti-violence protocols *probably* allow him to play dodgeball, but if they don't allow him to throw the ball, then he's just dodging and keeping his team in the game by drawing fire while his teammates do all the throwing.
Dishonorable Mention goes to David, who is canonically the kind of kid that always gets picked last, probably would be overly aggressive and get himself knocked out of the game early on, and as a rat would be terrible at throwing.
Commission for BDawgTheHusky, with his character, Banana, playing some dodgeball. From what I know, this was commissioned to celebrate him and his team winning their dodgeball championship!
Honō no Tōkyūji: Dodge Danpei 2 (Famicom) (1993)
Laswell decides everyone needs to blow off steam. So she organizes a dodge ball game between Shadow Company and 141 and Vaqueros.
It was supposed to be simple.. structured.. she forgot these are a buncha heavily traumatized idiots who hate to lose.
Soap let out a battle cry like he’s William Wallace
Alejandro screamed ‘the resistance starts now’
They made tactical forts out of gym mats. Kate blew the whistle and they all charged at each other full speed no brakes.
It was a tactical meltdown, Simon beamed Graves in the head which triggered a slow motion collapse.
Rudy fake died whispering to Alejandro to tell his story.
A random shadow army crawled across the floor muttering. ‘It’s not over the resistance lives.’ Laswell tried to call it off but it was too late. Soap accidentally nailed Price in the back of the head. Simon got clocked by a rogue shoe. Gaz got so many saves he thought he was on top of the world. Until Graves nailed him in the back.
By the end of it Price, Alejandro and Graves all sporting new bruisers and matching black eyes. Shook hands and drafted a peace treaty. Kate considered a transfer.
Big fan of how both the Gozyugers and the Aries live in fear of Ryugi
