Do you ever have issues with the way that anyone pronounces your name? For instance my friends dad is also called Carl and when i first went down to meet them (they are English, I am Scottish) they made me say his name over and over again because it sounds like I am saying Carol.

Not how people pronounce it, but how Americans hear me pronounce it.

If I go somewhere and make an order where I have to give them my name (coffee places, Jamba Juice, certain busy restaurants, etc), 99 times out of 100 they’ll hear me say “Kyle”.

I’ve been living in America for three years now. I’m not gonna do the math, but you can guess how many times I’ve ordered drinks and whatnot in that time… And I can tell you, with exact certainty, that the barista/whatever has gotten my name right twice. Ever. TWICE.

Eventually I’m gonna get a Llamas with Hats tshirt with CARRRRRRL written across it so I can just point at it.

It’s crazy.
