Detailing Cars is Super Cleaning

it basically just means extra cleaning so your car looks super nice and your wax can stick! After washing your car (preferably a hand-wash as machine washes will leave more contaminants), contaminants on the paint may prevent a wax from sticking and therefore unable to protect your car like it’s supposed to. 

here is a tutorial (kind of an advertisement from Mothers but it has good info) on detailing with a clay bar, which I picked up at Walmart. it also instructs on what the “baggy test” is and how to use it to check if you need to use clay. 

clay bars will work to clean your paint, body, rims, plastic (like your lights!!), and glass, so be sure to skip superfluous products (I was going to buy a headlight cleaner as well) if you’re looking to do this. Not all clay bars are created equal. They come in a range to treat a range of contamination (heavy to light), so be sure to get the correct one for the job, as clay bars are considered an abrasive--super useful if you need it, but can damage your clear coat if you do it too often unnecessarily!

Here are some common detailing and interior cleaning mistakes to avoid (interior cleaning/upholstery also covered under detailing? not sure. i have to clean it anyways haha) though I think he’s a little wiggo about protection, like if ur working on a lot of cars ok but just your own personal vehicle shouldn’t give you chemical problems unless you have sensitivities? idk bruh
