Boston T (subway) to the beach
so i was just reminded recently that some folks i know who regularly use the T (boston subway), but aren't from boston did not know that you can take the T to the beach
here's how to get from some subway stops to the beach, for those unfamiliar:
Wonderland Station (Blue line) is literally on the beach. Get out of the station, and you will see the beach across the street. (Revere Beach) (subway stop to beach distance: literally across the street) .
JFK UMass (Red line) exit via Columbia Road, walk ~0.25 miles (400 meters) north/east along Columbia road (it turns into William J Day boulevard at the traffic circle) and you'll see the beach (Carson Beach) (subway stop to beach distance: ~ a quarter mile) .
Savin Hill (Red line): walk a third of a mile southeast along Savin Hill ave and you'll be right there (Malibu Beach) (subway stop to beach distance: ~1/3 mile) .
Orient Heights (Blue line): walk a third mile west along Bennington, you'll see a pedestrian bridge to your left with a sign for the beach. cross it, and you're there. (Constitution Beach) (subway stop to beach distance: ~half a mile)
.
the beaches in question:
Revere Beach:
Carson Beach:
Malibu Beach:
Constitution Beach:
Hope this helps someone!

Carson Beach and Revere Beach
So my roommate and I went to two beaches over the weekend. I wanted my other roommate to join in but she said she was under the weather lately. Maybe another time. Still the beaches I went to this weekend were not as good as other beaches that I went to before but they're doable. Though, Carson Beach would have to be the lowest rated beach I've ever been to. I guess these beaches aren't as good as others I went to because these are the "free" ones. I put free in quotation marks because I did need to pay some money to get there by T but yeah, these beaches are free. I must have been spoiled by the other beaches I went to but I'd say that Revere Beach was okay and Carson Beach is just plain terrible.
For Carson beach, we went there because someone said that beach was really good. When I came into the beach, I was completely disappointed. The sand quality was terrible, it was terrible to the point where I felt like I needed to wear my sandals when walking unless I don't mind stepping on a bunch of broken shells and rocks. Yeah, that would hurt and I don't want to hurt my feet. I need these babies to walk to my rotation. Oh and don't get me started on the water. The water was extremely murky and dirty that you could barely see anything. The water was so bad that I didn't see a single person go into the water at all. The weather was nice for the beach but Carson Beach is not the beach to enjoy it in. I shake my head at the person who recommended it. Yeah, never coming back to it.
Now for Revere Beach, it's definitely an upgrade from Carson Beach. I would definitely come back to this beach even though it's not as great as other ones. It's a long stretch of beach with alright quality sand. There's some broken shells, washed up seaweed, and other stuff on the sand but it's not as much as Carson Beach. I could walk on the beach bare foot no problem. And the sand seems pretty good to make sand castles. For the water, it's not that bad. I could see through it a bit and it was alright to swim in. I actually got into the water unlike Carson Beach and I stayed in the water for quite some time. Because come on, it's a beach and you have to go take a swim even though you can't swim. It was pretty cold but your body gets use to it. There's some food places you could go to on the boardwalk which is pretty good if you work up an appetite after having fun at the beach (which is always). We picked a day where it was windy so there was a lot of sand that got on everywhere but again, I'd come back to this beach. And I really do want to see the sand castle festival that takes place on this beach. That'd be fun to see. But alas, it's over. Oh and when I was at this beach, I sort of got catcalled here. That was really uncomfortable. When it was about time to leave, I wanted to go to the bathroom and change out of my bathing suit to something dry. When I was going there, these two old guys asked me "Was the water cold?" I felt really uncomfortable because these two guys were looking at me in the water. I didn't really want to answer them and then they called me something but I don't remember what the word was. Must be my brain trying to block it out. But yeah, other than that happening, the beach day was good.
So in conclusion, I'd recommend Revere Beach if you want to go to an alright beach that's free and don't feel like paying for a better one. I would never ever recommend Carson Beach. That beach is just terrible so stay away. But all in all, my beach weekend wasn't too bad at all. I caught some rays and I swam a bit. Pretty good to relax yourself from all this working in rotations.
