hi henlo ! i’m jo n i’ll be playing cass and frankie ! i like short walks up the stairs and pinteresting my life away. i lit just finished work , but pls donut b afraid 2 message me if u wanna plot. cass n frankie are a lil half baked bc they’re new muses for me , but They’re getting there ok , they’re Trying their Best.
( PARIS BERELC, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER ) - i think i saw CASSANDRA CASTILLO walking around earlier. the TWENTY-ONE year old STUDENT has been in Carson for FIFTEEN YEARS. from what i’ve seen, they can be pretty SELF-ASSURED and LOYAL, but also VAIN and IMPULSIVE. they were blasting RIVER by BISHOP BRIGGS, weren’t they? they have the power of REGENERATIVE HEALING.
( HENRY GOLDING, CISMALE, HE/HIM ) - i think i saw FRANKLIN WAN walking around earlier. the THIRTY-TWO year old GOVERNMENT AGENT has been in Carson for ONE MONTH. from what i’ve seen, they can be pretty LEVEL-HEADED and CALM, but also UNFORGIVING and RESERVED. they were blasting ANGELS by CHANCE THE RAPPER, weren’t they? they DO NOT have a superpower.
TW; death, serious injury
CASSANDRA CASTILLO !
cass was born into a normal life in the quaint town of mystic, connecticut. her dad was a lawyer, and her mom was a high school teacher. on weekends her and her siblings ( a wc ! ) would go biking around the town. they lived an ordinary life.
in her childhood home, they had a mighty oak in their backyard -- in its branches was a treehouse. one day, as she was climbing down on the ladder, she missed a rung and fell. ‘shattered spine,’ the doctor said to his associate. ‘poor kid won’t walk again.’ he ate his words twenty minutes later, during a follow-up.
when it came to their attention that their daughter was one of the many ... powered individuals, her parents immediately knew that they had to move to carson. being a high school teacher, mrs. castillo knew exactly how quickly she might become ostracized.
the family moved as soon as possible. it wasn’t difficult for cassandra to become adjusted. she wasn’t carson born, but she was carson bred. carson is her home. she doesn’t really see herself leaving. not unless she has to.
in terms of personality, cass can be extremely self-centred and the only other people she cares about are the people she’s close with. she kind of vain, and enjoys the limelight. despite that, she’s not sold on the whole hero schtick. cass doesn’t want to give up her life for some shitty part time job with no benefits other than self gratification
cassandra is reckless. since she knows she can’t get seriously injured, she deadass doesn’t give a shit about her physical being. in high school, when she was on the cheer team, she was notorious for risking the most dangerous stunts. she was a nightmare and was top priority for waivers and permission forms.
something that cassandra has never mentioned about her powers? even though she never retains the damage, she feels it. her body is plagued with phantom aches and she’s constantly in a mood because of the horrifying migraines she experiences in thanks to the dozens of concussions she’s should’ve had.
POSSIBLE WC ; exes , ex-teammates (cheer, volleyball, soccer?) , friends , gal pals , the bitch who cut in front of her at dairy queen that one time, party pals
FRANKLIN WAN !
frankie was born in chicago, a hub of life. he’s a big city boy. he loves the hustle and bustle of the city. he likes being able to get pho on a thursday night and finding a mcdonalds when he turns a corner.
he’s a family boy -- everything he does is for his family. growing up, it was just him and his mom. his mother was a kindhearted woman who did her best raising him. she had no choice, though. his father was a kind man who was far too fucking trusting. he stepped into a fight with two people people with powers. he got killed because of it.
frankie’s never gotten over that prejudice inside of him. he hates people with powers. which makes his current employment an interesting predicament to find himself in.
the contrast between chicago and carson makes his head spin. there’s so little to do in maine. still, when he can ignore the presence of the powered people, he can almost think of carson as... calming.
as one might’ve noticed, he is a very quiet person. usually, he’s very level headed and calm. he prefers to be left to his own devices.
frankie doesn’t really have a temper, but he is extremely unforgiving. he holds grudges like there’s no tomorrow. he leaves his anger to simmer, but will never speak it outloud.
the bottom line is that frankie hates people with powers. he blames them for his dad’s death and he’ll always childishly cling to that hatred.
POSSIBLE WC: roommates (non-powered), co-workers, person he’s dating but doesn’t know they’re powered, neighbour
(MANNY MONTANA, CISMALE, HE/HIM ) - i think i saw DIEGO MORALES walking around earlier. the THIRTY year old FOOD TRUCK OWNER has been in Carson for FIFTEEN YEARS. from what i’ve seen, they can be pretty SPONTANEOUS and EASY GOING, but also RECKLESS and SELFISH. they were blasting PINK + WHITE by FRANK OCEAN, weren’t they? they have the power of PYROKINESIS.
i’m late to the party, cause we’re like JUST about to open so let me jump right into the cool character stuff and stop talking about myself. HERE WE GO
diego’s the second of three children, born to a certified SUPER HERO and a scientist. his parents met when his mom (who has the power of weather manipulation) volunteered to undergo testing in regards to her genetic makeup. papa morales was on a team of scientists trying to find the gene that made powered people..powered people. talk about a meet cute.
that was long for no reason. basically his parents are good good.
the morales fam grew up in dallas, texas where they were mostly cheered on, but the people there who were against powered people were VERY against it, and had no issue voicing it. his mom looked at her powers as a gift and continued to protect those who hated what she was, because ‘everyone deserves safety, regardless of their ignorance.’
diego on the other hand...disagreed. his powers manifested themselves when he was 13, when he set a fellow classmate on fire because he kept calling mama morales a freak and threatened to kill her.
his parents’ notoriety kept him from being expelled, they explained that his powers were newly developed and he didn’t have full control over them, and promised it wouldn’t happen again.
uh. it happened again. the second was during a high school football game. diego took jv WAY too seriously (but it’s texas so come on) and when a player on the opposing team intercepted a ball diego was meant to catch...he set the ball on fire. imagine casually running with a football and it just BURSTS INTO FLAMES.
needless to say he was kicked out of school after that. and those were only the incidents that happened on school grounds. there were more.
he memorized his parents’ speeches about using his powers for good and not for personal gain, and not using them against those who can’t defend themselves. he heard it a lot.
it took him getting into an insane fight with a fellow powered person for them to finally move to carson. they could create electromagnetic waves, mixing that with fire was bad news. the two of them took out a taco bell.
moving to carson was a godsend. for him it really was a safe haven, he was able to use his powers more freely (as long as he didn’t use them against anyone) and his mom retired from saving everyone’s asses so she got to be around more. win win.
there’s still been a fire here and a fire there, but he’s not a full on arsonist so his family considers that a win too.
personality wise he’s surprisingly chill, despite his anger getting a little flamey. always up to grab a beer or chill. pick up basketball is fun.
he’s one of those “stick it to the man” “so and so is just a social construct” kinda people. that’s why he has the food truck. he gets to make his own hours, be his own boss, and he doesn’t really have to answer to anyone but himself..
he makes the most bank at the university. college kids are always hungry.
his truck specializes in lobster (shout out to maine). lobster rolls, lobster tacos, lobster tail, lobster quesadillas, you get it. but he’s got some shrimp tacos, soups, and fish and chips too.

born and raised in a small town just outside of new york city, carson left home at 18 and was never meant to come back. growing up with a single father in a place like that felt suffocating to him so when young adulthood rolled around, carson fought hard for an opportunity to get out. it worked — scholarships and growing student loans got him to college and med school in washington. and even though the beginnings of his education and medical career were an absolute nightmare, carson never looked back.
then fate drags him to madison, wisconsin for a guy — a pediatric surgeon he met at a conference. long-distance was not cutting it with their lifestyles and after a few months of tying loose ends in d.c., carson moves across the country to be with mark. carson finishes his residency in a new environment and, like everywhere he's lived before, he gets comfortable pretty quickly. he calls and visits home a few times a year but the more distance between him and his father, the better.
carson and mark get married the second it becomes legal but it's mostly because of a need to keep their relation ship afloat rather than to strengthen what they've already built together. they work at the same hospital but barely see each other. they stay together because it's easier and more comfortable that way. they talked about kids a few times but never committed to it — not that carson didn't want to, he pressed a few times but it never yielded any results so at some point he just gave up. and then mark decides to give up completely and files for divorce. he met someone else and while it stings, carson doesn't try to fight it. he signs, they split and carson's left with the house, which he starts avoiding like the plague and throws himself into work to avoid thinking about his decomposing personal life.
six months into carson's single life, his father asks for help. his pension is no longer covering all his costs of living and his worsening alzheimer's is preventing him from picking up any part-time work. carson starts with sending money at first but then he starts getting phone calls from his father's friends who grow even more worried by the day.
carson looks up care homes in the area, calls and asks for details, sets up appointments but once he visits and sees how much his father doesn't want to leave the house he's spent his entire life in, he takes pity on him and makes the decision to relocate. there's nothing keeping him in madison anymore and the house is easy to sell. he debates over getting his own place but ends up moving back in with his father to be close in case something happens.
he gets a job at the same medical center he used to go to when he was a kid and it's the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and their business. it's small and he settles for a job in family medicine, which is so far from what he's used to—the price to pay for being able to be there for his father. it makes carson miserable though, the burnout from not doing enough is even worse than the one from doing too much. so he asks around, sets up a couple of interviews, cashes in on some owed favors and after a couple of months of figuring out the details, carson starts his new job at harbourview metropolitan hospital.
he struggles at first—he needs to recalibrate and get used to an enormous amount of responsibility again, the commute from his father's house is a bitch most of the time, his father's bad days are more frequent than the good ones, the private nurse he hires is expensive, the house is starting to fall apart and, frankly, so is carson.
two years at the harbour and things aren't really any better, carson's just got good at handling them. but he's a firm believer—if you ignore your problems long enough, they disappear, right?
