[ sms -- nuisance ] hey, let’s hang out today? i’m bored... [ sms -- nuisance ] you won’t leave me hanging this time.... right?

jenni didn’t understand why she wasted her time sending the male text messages when all he did was find some excuse to turn her down. all she wanted was someone to walk with, or entertain her when she was bored. there was something about carter that just made her more upset each time she saw the male. so, why did she want to hang out with him as much as she did was beyond her. if anything, she would have called hector or at least messaged him to hang out, but most times being with him caused headaches. 

she tapped her fingers on the table, and stared at her phone. the anticipation of what the other’s message would be this time had her attention. would this be the time he just says ‘okay’, or will it be another excuse as to why he feels that its not in his best interest to get out of that apartment he keeps himself locked in almost everyday.

Americano  | Carter&Evelyn

Damn. She thought as she ran towards the coffee shop, her white keds allowing her to move faster than most the girls around her who sported sandals. Late, was something Evelyn hated being and today the girl was late. There was a meeting scheduled with a friend of hers, Carter. They had met a bit ago when they worked on the same project. Evelyn admired him and enjoyed learning more about him and how he wrote so well. Being a writer of music, the girl had trouble thinking of lyrics for her songs. She could create wonderful melodies and choruses with no lyrics to go along with them. Which is when she would call Carter up - she hoped he didn’t mind helping the lame songwriter who had trouble with words.

Pulling on the straps of her bag the girl pushed faster against the pavement. Her eyes shortly fell on the cafe that the pair were meeting at. Chewing her lip the girl pushed into the shop, her eyes searching quickly for the male. After a quick  glace she was able to spot the familiar head of hair. “Carter.” She spoke slightly out of breath as she rushed to his side. Her cheeks grew pink at the situation. Why did she have to get so absorbed and make herself late ? “Sorry for being super late, but I’m here now.” A small grin played on her lips as she shrugged off her bag and placed it on the ground beside her as she took the seat across from him. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too angry with her. It was the curse of Evelyn, always getting lost in the music.

“How about I buy your lunch as payment for being late, hmm?” she asked, trying to get back on his good side.

carter & hector

       why was hector standing in front of carter's apartment again? "ah right, the bet."

                                                                    // flashback // 

      hector was sitting around with some of the students in the kitchen, it was already a bit late but it was sort of a tradition in hinduk dorms. sometimes some roommates would sit around in the kitchen and talk about their day, girls ( boys too ) and some information that was obviously only for boys to talk about, like porn. even if in fact, hector was only interested to know what they thought about people. he loved to know people from university even if not knowing them exactly. 

"oh today, i saw that kid carter." said one of the guys who was sitting in the counter with some suju in a cup. another got back to him and laughed. 

"oh my that kid is amazing, does he even have friends?" another replied. hector who until now was not listening to their conversation raised his head to pay attention to the conversation. 

"i heard he's too busy reading to have friends."  the blonde guy with the suju said, after taking in a sip.

"wait, who is this kid again?" hector asked and the guys looked at him. 

"stay quiet hector, not even you could be friends with him." hector laughed. ah, these guys could piss him off. he didn't really like to see anyone alone. he could try his best to at least make them be friend with someone, just so they wouldn't been that way. "oh, wanna bet that on that?" hector replied. & despite the good heart, he hated when people said he couldn't do something. "let's bet it then. i'll go there, right now, and be friends with him." "do you really---" "i'll pay you all shots if i lose, fair?" and as obvious at is, the guys accepted.

      "i really need to stop making these bets." he sighed and took a deep breath. now was too late anyways. he knocked on the door and heard footsteps inside of the apartment, along with some stuff falling and a groan. hector laughed and was amused with it. "never mind, this will be fun."
