The Hulk cartoon is low quality from a plot and character perspective, but its failure to take things to their logical conclusion accidentally validated one of my grimdark HCs about Thor and Loki's childhoods. Notably, that despite being royalty, they technically do fall under child soldier territory because they're retrieving dangerous magical artifacts on Odin's behalf. And they kneel in front of him.
This is not one of my HCs and I consider specific to this cartoon, but it's nightmare fuel. The episode also implied they're both beholden to whoever gains control of Odin's spear, Gungnir. But it does remind me that in the myths, oaths made with Gungnir can't be broken. So were they forced to make an oath? D:
