Oh, tough one...scifi as an adult, fantasy as a kid, but it's still relatively close. I think the isolation and alienation present in a lot of scifi really appeals to me now in a way that I found scarier as a kid, and I also have found more well-written adult scifi than I have fantasy.
11. Have you ever bought a book because of who the author was?
Frequently! I bought a whole set of strangely cheap 1st edition Edna St. Vincent Millay books after reading three poems of hers online, and do not regret it.
13. Are you a fan of autobiographies?
My immediate thought was yes, but I'm actually not sure. The only proper autobio I own is Dirk Bogarde's collected memoirs, which are excellent because Dirk Bogarde was a very critical, observant judgmental man with an interesting life and a talent for writing, but I can't think of a non-graphic novel autobio I've liked aside from Bogarde's work.
Yes, although much less frequently than I used to. I spent 9th grade living in a very rural area with some family friends, and going to the library was a whole trek, and there was no regular internet connection, so whenever we did go out I would download everything that looked even remotely interesting from the 'top 100 free kindle books' list onto my kindle. I read a lot of romance novels and little 'history of anthropology' type books back then. Now I'm sick to death of reading things on screens, so I mostly only read e-books if I can't easily buy the book or get it from the library.
24. How willing are you to lend your books to other people?
Hm, both very willing and not. I tend to pick up multiple copies of books if I want other people to read them, and then I just give them away. I think I worry in general that I might never get a book back, but if someone asked me for a specific book I'd be happy to lend it.
29. What's the biggest book you ever read, and how many pages did it have?
I'm really not sure about individual books, but the longest series I've ever read was Tad William's Otherland series, which is just over 3,000 pages (I enjoyed and was disturbed by it).
