Last Day on Earth

We have now all sat through the Walking Dead season finale, and likely are feeling like the world is a very, very bleak place. So let’s try and bring a little light and happiness back.

Fans of Scottish accent, I know you are out there, as you have been delightful enough to compliment me on mine in the past.

Due to the fact i have been able to do the stuff I planned for CarylBYOB this week (due to my mother-in-law having a heart attack at the start of the week. Thankfully she is home and doing well now) I am offering to WHORE MYSELF OUT TO YOU.

If you make a donation to CarylBYOB, I will record and upload myself reading, reciting, saying ANYTHING you so desire for you to do with whatever you please. *ahem*

I’ll read poems, lines from movies, read a bit of fanfic, some lines from Outlander (I have the first book to hand). Though obviously, the longer then the more I want to see donated. I’ll even sing if you like, though I’m not exactly brilliant (came joint third in my school’s Scottish singing contest LMAO)

VERY IMPORTANT: CHANGE OF CHARITY

I am very sad to report that SCAN have contacted us and requested that we NOT fund raise for them.

We completely respect and will abide by this wish as of now. 

Therefore we have made the decision to change the charity to receive our funds to :

CHILDHELP Childhelp provide a national child abuse hotline.

Childhelp is one of the largest non-profit child abuse prevention and treatment organizations in the nation. It operates facilities in California, Virginia, Tennessee, and Arizona. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline services all of the United States, its territories and Canada.

HOWEVER, we appreciate that those who have already donated may not wish their funds to be used for a different charity (Although it is still one focused on child abuse in North America). So if you have donated and wish to have your donation refunded please email [email protected] and we will issue you a refund ASAP.

We deeply apologise for this but hope you realise this turn of events is out of our hands.

Okay, first of all THANK YOU To everyone for reblogging, retweeting and donating so far, I can announce that tonight CarylBYOB 2016 has broken the $700 mark!

This is amazing news and such a wonderful tribute to your generosity. we hope you will continue to spread the word and keep the drive going as it seems we may be in for a traumatic few weeks fro Carol and Daryl - so all the more reason to keep giving.

We will also be offering further incentives to donate... speaking of which the OTHER GOOD NEWS!

PASSPORTCOLOR DRAWINGS AS PRIZES FOR DONATING

This is a drawing my the VERY talented @passportcolor and not only is she talented she’s very generous.

@passportcolor has very generously offered to donate some of her drawings to CarylBYOB.  Yes, if you donate to CarylBYOB YOU could win your chance to have a drawing of your very own by passportcolor.

Here’s the deal:

Passport has offered 6 black and white drawings (similar in style to the one above). This will be broken down in 2 per week for the next 3 weeks of the CarylBYOB drive.

Week 1 - 13 March to 20 March 

Week 2 - 20 March to 27 March

Week 3 - 27 March to 3 April

For each weekly period, everyone who had donated $20 or more within that week will be eligible to win 1 of 2 drawings for that week. 

To be in with a chance to win a drawing for a second weekly time period you must donate AGAIN within that period. (eg if you donated in week 1 you are eligble for the draw in week 1, to be eligible for the draw in week 2 you must also donate in week 2)

CARYLBYOB 2016 IS HERE!

What is CarylBYOB?

CarylBYOB is a charity drive that began in 2014, as Carylers and Carol Peletier fans who wanted to do something positive to honour both the characters we love, and celebrate the friendships we have made in the fandom.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) was inspired by the way most of us fans enjoy the show. We live through the highs and lows of these characters an decided a good way to raise money would be to put our episodic emotional energy into monetary form.

In honour of the Caryl bottle episode “Consumed”, we raised over $2000 for a charity helping the victims of domestic abuse (in honour of Carol’s journey) by donating to the charity however much we would spend on crutches to help us through a particularly nail-biting episode for Carol and Daryl.

So what are we doing in CarylBYOB 2016?

On 13 March, episode 13 “Same Boat” is airing. This episode is going to be another harrowing, edge-of-our-seat hour as we know that at the end of episode 12 Carol and Maggie have been kidnapped by The Saviours. This obviously also affects Daryl, and we also hear episode 13 may very well be an episode of interest for the Caryl dynamic.

Naturally, Caryl and Carol fans are going to be an emotional wreck through this episode. So we want our fellow fans to channel that tension into financial help by donating the amount they would normally spend on items to help them through the episode. Maybe you’d normally buy a vat of wine, a gallon of ice-cream, a pizza topped with another pizza, a giant comforter, or pay for a long-distance phone call to your fellow TWD fan across the country to wail at each other. All we ask is that this week you donate that amount you’d normally spend, to CarylBYOB instead.

What are we donating to?

This year CarylBYOB’s chosen charity is SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now). 

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the well-being of children, improve parent-child relations and prevent child abuse and neglect by:

EDUCATING the community about the scope, nature and consequences of child abuse and neglect and the importance of positive, nurturing parenting; PROVIDING direct parent education; & ADVOCATING for children in the community, the legislature and the courts.

We were inspired to support this organisation due to the tragic story of Sam Anderson in the show. Obviously, child abuse is a repeated issue that has been raise in The Walking Dead from Daryl’s own childhood, via Sophia and Ed, and through to Ron and Sam Anderson. We see how in any world, in any family, how child abuse can happen and how long-lasting the effects are. We want to help all victims have a voice.

100% of your donations (beyond Paypal fees) will go straight to SCAN.
