This is the end of the little adventure that was the shooting with Mar Flores. As I said the first day, I wanted to show you the real Mar so I had to share with you what really impressed me about her. She’s one of those persons who at a glance, the moment you know her, tells you all. She’s attentive, hardworking, tenacious and, above all, you can tell she’s a mum. She was taking care of all of us and, in the distance, of her twins. The next day was their birthday and she was really excited about it and also she was constantly taking pictures to show them later what she does, howis a day at “mom’s work”. So, throughout the shooting we did an improvise “behind the scenes” for them.

This outfit is perfect to wear it spring/autum or even winter, depending the layers we put on it. It’s an basic outfit but not typical at all. The classic skinny jeans and white t-shirt pairing is elevated with the perfecto (all from Blauer). This jacket stands out thanks to the incredible slightly-distressed brown leather and the tacks on the lapel. For the coldest days, a good coat like this green double-breasted from Blauer. A much more sophisticated piece than what comes to your mind about this iconic brand knowned for its technical clothing. In the new fall/winter collection, Blauer doesn’t forgets its roots but takes a next step, a more cosmopolitan ready-to-wear approach. If this is not enough for the worst days of winter, we could add this original coat from Rude Riders. Wore it as a cape you can see the beautiful multicolor printed lining, which make the coat trully special. The sneakers and the other garments in this outfit are from Denis Tiengo, one of the most prestigious showrooms in Barcelona. Whenever I want to get an urban look, perfect for a day to day, I go there. They work with very prestigious brands, as Blauer, Premiata, 2Man2Woman or Timex and I love that Denis and Sara, the owners, make you feel at home.

Llegamos al final de la pequeña aventura que fue el shooting con Mar Flores. Ya comenté al inicio que os descubriría a la Mar auténtica, así que me apetecía compartir con vosotros lo que más me llamó la atención de ella. A Mar se le ve atenta y trabajadora. Y por encima de todo, se nota que es madre. Estuvo pendiente de todos nosotros pero, sobre todo, de sus gemelos. Al día siguiente era justo el cumpleaños de los pequeños y durante el shooting estuvo sacando fotografías para poder enseñarlas después, para que sus peques viesen “el trabajo de mamá”. Así que a lo largo del shooting todos realizamos un improvisado “behind the scenes” para ellos. En cuanto al look de esta ocasión, sirve tanto para entretiempo como para los días más fríos de cara al próximo invierno, dependiendo de las capas queramos poner. Es un outfit sencillo y compuesto de prendas básicas, aunque para nada típicas. La combinación clásica de vaqueros skinny y camiseta blanca se potencia al combinarla con una chaqueta que destaca por una increíble piel marrón envejecida y unos magníficos detalles de tachuelas en las solapas (todas las prendas de la marca Blauer). Como complementos, unas sneakers blancas de lentejuelas de la firma Premiata, un bolso tote de piel a juego de Jofré y, como nota de color, un sombrero en tono berenjena de Raceu Hats. Para los días más fríos, nos parece ideal un buen abrigo verde de doble botonadura, como este que nos presenta Blauer. Se trata de una pieza mucho más sofisticada de lo que quizá nos viene a la mente cuando hablamos de esta icónica marca de prendas técnicas, y es que su nueva colección de otoño/invierno, aunque no olvida sus raíces, coquetea con el prèt-à-porter más cosmopolita. Y para días en los que esta combinación no es suficiente, se puede superponer un original abrigo extralargo de Rude Riders. Lo combiné como una capa para que se viese el forro estampado multicolor, un detalle que lo convierte en una prenda muy especial. Tanto las sneakers como las prendas del outfit provienen de uno de los showrooms más prestigiosos de Barcelona, Denis Tiengo. Siempre acudo a ellos cuando quiero un perfecto conjunto urbano para el día a día. Trabajan con firmas muy prestigiosas que destacan por su gran calidad, como Blauer, Premiata, 2Man2Woman o Timex, y además Denis y Sara te hacen sentir como en casa. Ponemos fin así, como indicaba al inicio, a esta aventura en la que Mar Flores nos obsequió por igual con su sencillez y profesionalidad. Ha sido un placer poder compartirla con todos vosotros. We also visited the home and studio of one of Cuba’s leading artists, José Rodríguez Fuster. His home in western Havana is a veritable fairy land of tile mosaics.

Today’s outfit from the photoshoot we did with Mar Flores is a special one because I think it gets the best Mar’s version of herself. I believe it was a special one also for her, if only due to the fact that at the session’s end she chose to leave out wearing this outfit pants!  The truth is that it couldn’t be another way, it seemed like they were made for her. Although this may seem a small thing, for me it was a big deal which filled me up with satisfaction.

This outfit was intended to do a modest statement, showing the side that women from a certain age don’t dare to show. Many of us, when turn to the fourties, give up with the platform shoes, the skinny jeans or the back necklines, just to name a few examples. However, we don’t have to give up this kind of looks or to stop having fun with tries of new options. The key is to know our strengths and focus on them, either the legs, the cleavage, the back, the shoulders … At this age we know ourselves better than ever. A big advantage that we have to take with open arms.

I believe that in Mar’s case, as I tried to show in other looks, her long legs are the key. So that the focus should be put on the pants choice. I wanted something fresh and light-hearted, and the best option were flared jeans. These ones are from J. Brand and are combined with an Saint Laurent wedge platform sandals and an ASPESI striped tee, this last an essential piece of clothing that must be always in our wardrobe. Pants, sandals and top are available at Jofré, one of the most important multibrand stores in Barcelona. To make more contrast I used Elena Estaun mesh vest, handmade as every jewel of this amazing designer. It’s part of her Second Skin collection. In this piece the best leather is mixed with rubber rings to do a mesh inspired by medieval armors. Pure luxury. The finishing touches, the Estribera collection by Mar Flores Madrid, in this case the Cabine Bag and the Traveller items.

El look que os muestro hoy de la sesión con Mar Flores es muy especial, porque creo que es el que sacó su mejor versión. De hecho, me atrevo a decir que también fue especial para ella, ya que al final de la sesión no pudo separarse de los pantalones, ¡y se los llevó puestos! La verdad es que le quedaban perfectos, era como si estuviesen hechos para ella. Aunque pueda parecer una anécdota, el hecho de que se los quisiera llevar puestos me llenó de satisfacción. En este outfit quería hacer una modesta declaración de intenciones, mostrando un lado que habitualmente las mujeres no se atreven a sacar a partir de cierta edad . Y es que muchas de mi quinta, pasada la barrera de los cuarenta, dejamos a veces de lado los zapatos con plataforma, los jeans más ajustados o de campana, o los escotes en la espalda, por nombrar sólo algunos ejemplos. Sin embargo, no hay que renunciar a este tipo de looks o a seguir experimentando con nuevas opciones. Se trata de centrarnos en nuestras virtudes y potenciarlas, ya sea las piernas, el escote, la espalda … Es una edad en la que nos conocemos mejor que nunca. Una gran ventaja a la que tenemos que sacar partido. En el caso de Mar, como también quise destacar en otros looks, la clave creo que son sus infinitas piernas. Así que el foco se debía poner en los pantalones. Quería una imagen fresca, desenfadada, y por eso elegí unos flared jeans de J. Brand combinados con unas sandalias de gran plataforma de Saint Laurent y una camiseta de rayas marineras de ASPESI, que es un básico que nunca puede faltar en el armario. Tanto el pantalón como la camiseta y las sandalias las podéis encontrar en Jofré, uno de los mejores multibrand stores de Barcelona. Para crear contraste utilicé un chaleco de Elena Estaun, que gana en las distancias cortas, ya que está realizado a mano como todas las piezas de esta diseñadora de joyas. En esta prenda, de su colección de joyería Second Skin, el mejor cuero tratado de forma artesanal se mezcla con las arandelas de caucho formando una malla inspirada en los diseños medievales. Una auténtica joya. Para completar el look, qué mejor que la colección de bolsos Estribera de Mar Flores Madrid, en concreto los modelos Cabine Bag y Traveller.

Mar’s Sophisticated Sporty Look

A few days ago I gave you a peak to the first look to what Mar Flores shooting in Barcelona was, but the day was much more of that. If you have been surprised with the choice of outfit, it’s fine, Mar had the same feeling when she saw it. Yes, I wanted to see her youthful and casual side, but at the same time we couldn’t lose sight of the place where we were doing the shooting. We were at the Hotel Casa Fuster, a modernist building with an interior design sophisticated and exquisite, pure art-deco. So, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to capture the essence of a place like this and of course the styling had to adapt to it, being more formal but without sacrificing the youthful spirit that surrounded the session. The building is a must-see if you came to Barcelona. It is not only an incredible architectural design, is an ode to love. It’s so impressive and beautiful that you can imagine how deeply loved Mariano Fuster his wife, Consuelo Fabra i Puig, for whom he was devoted to build this splendid palace. In 1908, he hired the renowned architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner and they built the most expensive building in Barcelona at that time and one of the most beautiful in the city. Such love story, more typical of a storytale, was truncated. In the 20’s, the Fuster family had to leave the building because they couldn’t pay the high cost of the maintenance. Although the fascinating story does not end there: along the years there were many business and offices, it was about to be demolish in the 60s and, after poor restorations, it was almost forgotten … until the 00’s, fortunately Hoteles Center acquired it and, after an ambitious and faithful restoration, it brought back the splendor of the building. I encourage you to go inside and discover the history: you can take a drink at Café Vienés, enjoy a Thursday night at the Jazz Club, go to Mirador del Paseo at the rooftop and delight the privileged views of the city, or admire the carriage entrance… it has hundreds of places that worth visiting where you can lose yourself in. Elisabeth Serra took these photographs of Mar in the Galaxó Restaurant. To match the classic atmosphere I opted for an always-effective combo: with crepe pants and a colorful top, pairing with infallible accessories: Manasa gold earrings from Elena Estaun and watch & ring from RABAT. Emilio Pucci’s top has one of its classic prints, the Grasshopper in black and emerald, and such a powerful piece had to be balanced with pants in a neutral tone but with character, also from the same fashion designer, like the wide-leg pants that lengthen even more Mar’s endless legs. The accessories can change the whole outfit: with a classic black clutch like this Givenchy from Jofré, the star is blouse, however if it’s combined with a bag with a different pattern, as Estribera’s bag stripes of her collection Mar Flores Madrid, the main focus is shared between both pieces and the result is much more modern and interesting. As you can see, the outfit has two different versions changing only the bag, which one do you prefer?

Hace unos días os enseñaba una primera pincelada de lo que fue la sesión de fotos con Mar Flores en Barcelona, pero el día dio muchísimo más de sí. Si os habéis sorprendido con la elección del outfit, habéis tenido la misma reacción que Mar cuando lo vio. Sí, quería sacar su versión más juvenil y desenfadada, pero al mismo tiempo no podía perder de vista el contexto en el que se estaba realizando el shooting. Nos encontrábamos en el Hotel Casa Fuster, un edificio modernista con una decoración art-deco, sofisticada y exquisita, así que no podíamos dejar escapar la oportunidad de capturar la esencia de un enclave como este y, por supuesto, el estilismo tenía que adecuarse, siendo más formal aunque sin renunciar al espíritu alegre y juvenil que envolvía la sesión. Es un edificio de visita obligada si pasáis por Barcelona. No sólo es una gran obra arquitectónica, es también un canto al amor. Es tan imponente y de tal belleza que al verlo te puedes hacer a la idea del profundo amor que sentía Mariano Fuster por su mujer, Consuelo Fabra i Puig, por quien se dedicó en cuerpo y alma a construir este bello palacio. En 1908, encargó al reputado arquitecto Lluís Domènech i Montaner la hazaña y construyeron el edificio más caro de la Barcelona de la época y uno de los más hermosos de la ciudad. Tal historia de amor, más propia de un cuento, se vio truncada. Fue tal el desembolso que supuso la construcción y el mantenimiento del edificio que, pocos años después de trasladarse allí, en la década de los 20, la familia Fuster tuvo que abandonarlo. Aunque ahí no acaba la fascinante historia: a lo largo de los años albergó numerosos comercios y sedes, estuvo a punto de ser derribado en los 60 y, tras pobres restauraciones, quedó en el olvido … hasta que en el año 2000 lo adquirió Hoteles Center y tras una ambiciosa y fiel restauración trajo de vuelta el esplendor del edificio.

Os animo a que entréis y descubráis su historia: que toméis algo en el Café Vienés, que vayáis a disfrutar jazz un jueves de la noche, que descubráis las vistas privilegiadas de la ciudad desde el Mirador del Paseo, que admiréis la entrada de carruajes … Tiene cientos de rincones que merece la pena visitar y en los que perderse. Elisabeth Serra tomó estas fotografías de Mar en el restaurante Galaxó. Para casar con el ambiente clásico y acogedor opté por una combinación que siempre es efectiva: un pantalón de vestir con caída y un top vistoso, acompañados de accesorios infalibles: pendientes Manasa dorados de Elena Estaun y reloj y anillo de RABAT. El top es de Emilio Pucci y tiene uno de sus clásicos estampados, el print Grasshopper en negro y esmeralda, así que una pieza tan potente había que equilibrarla con un pantalón en un tono neutro y con carácter, también del mismo diseñador, y con Mar lo mejor era optar por uno de corte flared que le alarga aún más sus infinitas piernas. Este look es de  CINTIA Boutique. Los complementos pueden darle un aire totalmente diferente a un look, ya que con un clutch clásico como el de Givenchy de Jofré el protagonismo se lo lleva la blusa, en cambio, si se combina con un bolso de distinto estampado, como el sobre de rayas Estribera de Mar Flores Madrid, el protagonismo se comparte entre ambas piezas y el resultado es mucho más moderno e interesante. 【バルセロナのホテル】Casa Fuster

こんにちは。

バルセロナのホテル、今回はカサ・フステル(Casa Fuster)をご紹介してみたいと思います。

↑　 カサ・フステルはグラシア大通り、カサミラから徒歩5分程の場所にあるラグジュアリーホテルです。1908年にドメニク・モンタネールの設計によって個人の邸宅として建築されました。 ドメニク・モンタネールは他にも世界遺産に指定されているサン・パウ病院、カタルーニャ音楽堂など数々の建築を手掛けた、モデルニスモを代表する建築家の一人です。

その後、できるだけオリジナルの建築を活かして改装されたカサ・フステルは 当時の面影を色濃く残したホテルです。

↑　 6階(日本でいう7階)はプールやバーもあるテラスになっています。基本的に冬場はテラスはクローズしています。

↑　 テラスからはグラシア通りが一望できます。ずっと先の海まで見えますね。

客室は全部で105室で、7つのカテゴリーに分かれています(Standard、Superior、Deluxe、Junior Suite、Senior Suite、Suite、Gran Suite)が、今回はそのうちの一部をご紹介します。

↑　 まずはスタンダード、広さは25.5〜27平方メートルです。 天井が高いので実際の数字よりも広く感じました。 各カテゴリーでお部屋の広さと設備の違いはありますが、デザイン、雰囲気は同じです。スタンダードにはツインベッド、キングサイズベッドの両方あります。

↑　 スタンダードのバスルームはバスタブの上にシャワーが付いているタイプです。洗面台のシンクは1つの部屋と2つの部屋があります。一つ上のスーペリアのカテゴリーはシンクは必ず2つあります。またバスタブとは別にシャワーブースが付きます。

↑　 スタンダードのお部屋からの眺め（一例）。角度的にこのようにサグラダファミリアが見えるお部屋もあります。グラシア通り側でバルコニーが付いているのはDeluxe以上のカテゴリーになります。

↑　 続いてSuiteの客室、こちらはリビングエリアです。ちょうど外から見ると円筒のようになっている部分がここにあたりますので、ここからはグラシア通りが良く見えます。

↑　 Suiteはキングサイズベッドのみの設定です。ツインはありません。

↑　 このようなバスタブに加えて、別に独立したシャワーブースがあります。

↑　 1階(日本でいう2階)にあるメインレストラン「Galaxó」はスペイン料理、カタルーニャ料理を中心とした地中海料理レストランです。ランチ、ディナーの営業となります。いくつかセットメニューがありますが、建物の建てられたモデルニスモ時代にちなんだ「モデルニストメニュー」などのユニークなテーマメニューもあります。

朝食レストランは地下にあります。この日はイベントの準備中で写真は撮影できなかったのですが、邸宅だった時代には貯蔵室だったというスペースで、波打つような天井の造形が見事でした。ご案内頂いたヴィクトリアさんによると、こちらの朝食はバラエティに富んでいて大変好評を頂いているということです。中にはこの朝食目当てにリピートされる方もいるそう。

地上階には「Café Viénes」というバーがあります。こちらも朝食レストラン同様に波打つような天井など、とても雰囲気のある場所です。また、毎週木曜日の夜にはジャズの演奏があり、こちらも毎回満席になるほどの人気です。

モンタネールの建築を見事に改装したカサ・フステルは、建物の魅力だけでなく、スタッフのサービスの質もとても高いと感じました。写真ではお伝えできないですが、ホテルに入った瞬間になんだかいい香りがしますし、とにかく雰囲気がいいです。困ったことにまた好きなホテルが増えてしまいました。
