CasaCon is back!
Once again, I'll be presenting a variety of programming at CasaCon, a free virtual convention held on Discord June 25-27! This time around, I'll be teaching about sewing for cosplay, as well as participating on a number of panels on writing and worldbuilding. Come join us!

Just a reminder that I'll be presenting at free online Discord convention CasaCon this weekend! You can register for your free badge at casacon.nardio.net.
Here's what I'll be presenting:
Patterns Lie! And Other Useful Sewing Facts
Friday, June 25 @ 4PM EST
Learning to sew can be daunting, especially if you’ve never had formal instruction. We’re here to help! In this panel, we’ll cover selecting and reading a pattern, choosing fabric, cutting, pinning, sewing, pressing, finishing hems, and more — all without complicated sewing terminology! You’ll be sewing like a pro in no time. Bring your questions!
What's the Difference Between Writing a Novel and Short Story?
Sunday, June 27 @ 1PM EST
Besides the obvious length issue, what are some things you need to consider when writing a short story versus a novel? Join SC Parris, AC Greenlee, Alena Van Arendonk, and Arden Powell as they walk you through the differences.
How to Create Believable Worlds and Characters
Sunday, June 27 @ 4PM EST
There's nothing worse than reading a story or running through a D&D campaign where the characters have paper-thin personalities or the world simply doesn't make sense. Join Alena Van Arendonk and Cathy Camper as they walk you through how to write good settings and characters whether for a book, video game, or your latest D&D campaign.
It’s free! It’s online! It’s this week!

Live stream of Makeup For Costuming today (June 12) at 4PM EDT!
If you’re wondering why I’m posting a collection of pictures of my face, it’s because I’ve just finished updating my Makeup For Costuming panel! I will be presenting the new version live via Discord from 4 to 6PM Eastern today for CasaCon (it’s free! Sign up for full access). This will be the full two-hour panel we do at cons, covering everything from simple tips to help you look better in photos, to creating specific character designs, to building special effects like scars and prostheses. It’s beginner-friendly, but also contains broad topical coverage for more advanced cosplayers. I’ve even slipped in a few examples from movie sets I’ve worked on.
(Due to some photos used by special permission and not approved for online publication, this panel will NOT be available online after the live stream.)
