Wait Helena and Ms Casey had their debut in the same episode
I just saw someone say that gemmahelly was Too Boring for them … & normally I would reblog and spam the tags with all my thoughts but I just. Like have we considered a) the variations? & b) maybe gemmahelly as a variation on their own are allowed to be Kind… I love toxic ships just as much as the next person However you’re allowed to enjoy Kind and Sweet Ships aswell. Isn’t that the appeal behind pre lumon mg?
Anyways I think gemmahellyna are incredibly complex and that for gemhelly, there are a lot of complexities there. Namely that final scene (their only interaction but I digress), where Helly spots Gemma and looks at her so… months later I still am not sure how I want to interpret it honestly. It was nothing nasty for sure, it was something curious. Pondering. Consider also her relationship with ms casey affecting how she viewed Gemma; it was the first time she had any interaction with ms casey’s outie after knowing what was happening to her (both of them). I’m sure there are some complicated feelings there, ESPECIALLY with her feelings on innie rights. Like she Definitely had a thought or two about ms casey’s rights (because they absolutely violated her rights beyond but that’s a whole new slightly upset rant)
If you want toxic: literally. Just put Helena Eagan and Gemma/Casey in a room and boom. Depending on what you’re feeling (Helena Scary As Shit Eagan Scaring casey ((that’s her Bosses Boss dude. She’d be shaking like a leaf. And would do absolutely anything that was asked of her without question.)) or Gemma You Kidnapped Me And Held Me Down There For Two Years And Destroyed My Entire Life Scout scaring Helena beyond anything she thought possible.) The toxic potential is THEREEEE and they are absolutely among the best toxic dynamics this show has to offer.
In conclusion: gemmahelly might not be “toxic” , but let’s not call them boring because they’re So not. They’re just not as Evil as some of their variations. Think outside the box ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻

Ms. Casey’s eyes search Helena’s frame. “I see your bruises have healed,” she adds. “I’m glad.”
When Helena catches her meaning, her hand flies to her neck without her input. Stupid. She tries to make the move look casual, but knows she fails.
Or: Helena takes care of a problem.
for gemmahelly week day 6: helena & ms. casey!
these two...
Omg.... caseyhelena.... you've opened my eyes to the potential.....
Caseyhelena could be everything if they were brave enough. It’s such a good ship.
Helena and Casey are both individuals without peers. Like, Casey is the wellness director, but she’s the only one in her department. She’s kind of above the other innies but she’s totally isolated from them and obviously from management as well who don’t treat her like a human being.
It’s MUCH the same with Helena, who is above all of her Lumon colleagues but is in no way on the same level as her father, seemingly her only family, who uses her for his own gain w/o concern for her wellbeing.
Their theoretical statuses give them this air of power that’s revealed (as their respective seasons go on) to be trivial at best. When I first watched severance s1 I literally thought ms Casey was an outie who just acted like that to fuck with the innies. How IRONIC.
Also, both of their “upbringings” have seemingly stunted them. Helena, especially s1 helena, is a lot better at masking that but we see she’s horrifically lonely and driven to do some pretty pathetic (but later possibly brave) shit by it. Ms Casey meanwhile has developed this off putting demeanor due to what’s been asked of her—I think Dan said that you’d be like this too if your whole life was reading off facts in a dark room to people you didn’t know.
Ms Casey’s repeated meaningless virtual deaths will probably be paralleled with Helena next season getting replaced by Helly. It’s sort of already started if you look at Casey’s feeble attempts to resist Milchick’s authority in the hallway and compare them with Helena’s when she’s trying to get out of returning to the severed floor after Irving almost drowns her.
Again, these two women should be as far away from each other in power as is possible in this world but they’re not, they’re damn near equally as beholden to Lumon’s whims (Helena technically has more opportunity to escape, but something is keeping her, I would be interested to know what, beyond mortal threat, that could be)
AUGH ive written meta about them here and fic about them here if you want further reading materials on the Helenacasey agenda.
Genuinely thinking about how Casey and Helena are so deeply paralleled. Casey’s presence in s1 feels pretty comparable to Helena’s in s2 and … they have the same role.
They’re both someone we don’t think they are!?! Does that make sense? Like we meet Casey and assume she’s just another innie while Gemma Gemma Gemma is mentioned by outie mark.
It’s this SECRET that she’s not even aware of but we’re deceived all the same. Helena…it’s the same.
And Helena’s presence in s1 is pretty comparable to Casey’s in s2: brief appearances, lip service when she’s not around.
Anyway. My girls. My women. Someone save them.
