Just arrived at @eobrewing and discovered 2 beers on cask so I dove right in to my find. My “Chocolate Caramels” brown ale is brewed with chocolate, vanilla and lactose and then rested on bourbon-soaked Ugandan vanilla beans. Smooth and creamy with delicious flavors of chocolate and vanilla. We are now officially the ONLY @caskmarque certified brewery south of the Mason-Dixon line! So, what does that mean? Cask Marque was started in England in 1998 and has been the standard evaluator of cask beer ever since. Assessors visit breweries and pubs twice a year to make sure that quality standards are maintained. We owe one of our investors, Curt Harpold, a great deal of thanks for both sponsoring the beer engine and hardware, as well as contacting Cask Marque to have them come and evaluate us for this certification. Curt has been a driving force behind True Respite’s cask project since its inception, and we are grateful to have the cask program in full motion. Significant kudos are also owed to the managers of the cask program – Co-Lead Brewer Sam Nelson and Co-Owner Steven Moore for keeping the cask beer flowing. It was a house before a pub, but it's been an inn since the 1400s. The decor is old world with mulled wine, old souls and a black cat named Salem, who sits where ever its warm and greets you with British indifference. . This is the Black Swan, a proud stalwart establishment in the neon shadow of The Moxy. . It is York through and through. One of the last old school pubs; the front parlor for men only. The middle seats for the widows and the back parlor forarried couples. . Of course, the rules don't apply, but this was middle class, working man York.
