wait im confused about the psolc hotch’s dad thing. Was that an inconsistency in the show? Or a mistake in your story? Or did hotch say two different things bc he doesn’t want anyone to know what really happened to his dad? 🤔 is his dad even really dead???

i love every character you write, but you just get hotch soooo perfectly in every single fic, even in waving through a window. id love to hear any hotch headcanons you have for psolc and the spencer blake au (maybe like how he interacts with spencer, bc i know youre writing him pretty canon compliant in this fic lol). thx and congratulations, this was a really cute idea to celebrate!!

ahhhhhhh this means SO much to me!!!!! I had a hard time trying to figure out how to write him in the beginning, but I really love him with my whole heart and I really enjoy writing him. 

Hotch loves wrestling. It’s kind of a secret? But not really, they all know. His favorite is Finn Balor. He’s always hoping that he’ll have somebody he can watch it with. 

He’s in Super Denial about his health issues. He has ear infections and colds all winter long and it puts him in a perpetual bad mood. But does he ask for help??? he does not. 

He doesn’t even remember where he got his favorite hoodie from, but he hasn’t been without it since he started boarding school. But he’s starting to outgrow it.

Im getting an ao3 just so i can leave ridic long comments on yur fics lol but in the meantime, things spencers teacher doesnt notice: he has no weather appropriate clothes, hes doing the bare minimum for schoolwork, he’s starving, he’s regressing in order to self soothe, bruises/marks from being hit at home, soaked and falling apart clothes from rain/snow/overuse, no participation or interest from a parent, the list is endless. Things his teacher does notice: pen instead of pencil. Sigh.

also, sad but true- Spencer’s teacher is based off a woman I worked with when I was teaching. She was a lifelong teacher who became the elementary principal, and all she cared about was rules, and making sure rules were adhered too. The kids were TERRIFIED of her.

Her grandson was in my aftercare class when he was in second grade and I was his tutor too; he was a sweet kid, and honestly she was so mean to him. He had ADHD and he was constantly being punished for acting out. He once had a sobbing meltdown in the hallway because he’d cut the line and I sent him to the back. And he was scared I was going to send him to the office over it.

So yeah, it’s entirely possible for Spencer’s teacher to completely ignore all the red flags, especially in a busy school with 20-25 other kids in the class.

but Alex will definitely pick up on the red flags really fast. and honestly so will James.

Im gonna write a real review for spencer blake when i have time over the weekend but i just wanna say that like. You truly have such a gift for writing, i get so sucked into everything you write, like i can feel so deeply spencer’s deliriousness and anxiety, i think my fave was him clinging to the staircase railing and just wanting to hide away alone somewhere. And alex trying to make sure everything is perfect for him, and james stressing over both alex and spencer. You really just write so beautifully. Ok thats all lol longer comment coming on ao3!

writing this story is so sad but I’m genuinely enjoying it, and I’m really excited to be at this point in the plot. the Blakes have to undo SO much damage. and Spencer is so stressed and misses his mom, and James is so thrilled to have a child in their home again, and Alex is so worried that something horrible will happen to Spencer and she feels like she doesn’t deserve to be a mom.

Terrified for lonely little spencer, he is so scarily vulnerable to sick predators ugh. His teachers continue to be the absolute worst, from not bothering to get his name spelled right, to not noticing he took a field hockey stick to the face, to not intervening at all at his obvious neglect. Idiots. You create such a bleak and isolated atmosphere in this story, can’t wait for alex and spencer to find each other. Great job as always!!

He’s SUCH a vulnerable little boy!!! he’s scared and hungry and tiny, and he doesn’t have any kind of safety net. but he’s going to meet Alex soon!!!

Sooo i think i recognize what spencer was told how to handle the bullies at school, from elephants memory..? Havent watched the ep in a while but i think that’s what that boy was told after he was bullied also. Very nice touch. Also idk if maybe i just forgot that hotch’s mom died in the fic?! But my jaw dropped, omg like im very torn between wanting to know everything about hotch and not wanting to know any more bc he breaks my heart!!!
