Max doesn't interact with the people (canon + non-canon) in the Billy and Mandy universe much
Not because he's sheltered most of the time or he hates people
He's just incredibly introverted and his trust in others shattered because of the events from his execution
Now if people were to prove they could be trust worthy to Max by their actions, he would start hanging around them more often.
He has a few friends, including his husband. And he genuinely has a hard time going out and talking to new people. He'd either freeze up at the sight of someone new or immediately go into fight or flight mode

Since Max and Jack didn't want to have kids the usual way, they went to Violet to help them. She took some of their DNA (hair, blood, spit, whatever she needed), and combined them together.
With the help of Grim, they succeeded in making a child for Max and Jack...and it was a spitting image of the two with a perfect 50 / 50 personality split, but also some magic from Violet.
Cass would be their only child, and he would be spoiled by the two with as much as they could give him.
