Im watching Cassandra (2025), Netflix show about this ai smart house that's Evil (surprise surprise lol), and we learned the ai used to be a human

And low key she deserves to do every mean thing she's done goodness gracious

Also I HATE David, the father in this show, he's such a terrible person. Stop negating your wife and her grief (and Samira constantly telling you Cassandra's threatening her) cause you're sad your crime novels aren't treated seriously. No one cares dude

girl, this series is crazyyyyy. premise is the following: family moves into a remote village to get over some kind of family trauma (sister of the mother killed herself), and the house has an old fashioned smart system installed ... its 50 years old, one of the first of its kind apparently. they manage to get it running again and the smart system has like a bunch of monitors in the house as well as a robot that can move around the house freely, she's got a woman's face and voice (that u see on the monitor) and she's spookyyyyy as fuckkk. so far she's been spinning intrigues against the mom, trying to turn her daughter against her, i think she will try to kill HERRR LMAOOO. also. she looks like this ...

i got to thinking about cassandra again and i gotta incoherently ramble

obviously major spoilers under the cut!! but also i might be misremembering shit so ig don't worry too much

also this is about some of the darker topics the show goes into so do be aware of that

i gotta get to cassandra's defence on the whole attempted murder of an infant,, like obviously her anger there should be directed at horst but i think she's still stuck in this old mindset where horst has control and she's helpless against him. she's still new to this existence as an a.i. and hasn't realised the power she holds over him. this baby was conceived by horst and his mistress while cassandra was actively dying by horst's hand. also, horst already has a young daughter with cassandra, but he abuses her whle being a seemingly kind father to this other daughter. this attempt wasn't planned or calculated either, cassandra came upon the baby in its pram close to the top of the stairs and was overcome by the impulse to push it.

and then when horst and his mistress are obviously scared and want to leave, cassandra locks them all up so they can't. however!! she agrees that they can all leave if they bring maggie.

now as a reminder, while cassandra was pregnant, horst knowingly endangered her severely and almost caused a miscarriage. this same incident is what caused cassandra's cancer and likely is also the reason that maggie would be born with a facial deformity. when she was born horst wanted to FUCKING KILL HIS NEWBORN CHILD saying to cassandra that it'd be "for maggie's own good since she would be bullied and shunned". obviously cassandra does not want to kill her baby, and the only compromise that this leaves is that maggie has to be hidden away, never seeing anyone outside the family and them all pretending she was a stillbirth.

this is the 1970's, and cassandra as a smart home ai can't you know order groceries to their doorstep, in other words she cannot take care of maggie on her own. so she says here that, they can all abandon her to live in isolation for eternity as an object bound to this house, as long as they bring maggie with them and take care of her. like, even after all the shit cassandra has been through her priority here is still her children's wellbeing.

so horst agrees, he promises he'll bring maggie. but then he doesn't. he brings his mistress, their daughter and peter to the car to leave without maggie, leaving this 6yo to just die. peter obviously protests and this argument leads to the car crash that kills everyone in that car. so cassandra finds one of her kids dead and knows the other will be dead in like a week and there's nothing she can do to help. in fact she has to watch as her daughter who was never even given a chance by her father wilts and rots. and cassandra just has to sit there. for 50 years. with nothing she can do. she can't even die, because she isn't human anymore, she's just an a.i. with a human's memories. so yeah, the way she is with the 2020's family after all that time is not so fucking strange!! like she inflicts horrible abuse on them but frankly nothing she even can do to them is worse than what she's been through
