Cassandra Faye Adonis // Child of Nothing

“We seen you…” the oldest boy whispers setting wide eyes on my brother. “You were in the dungeon. They killed you.”
“They tried. A friend got me out. By the time I realized what was happening it was too late to go back for you. I’m sorry….” Castor appears genuinely guilty but also relieved to find them all safe and sound. “Did you happen to find another?” He directs his next question to me. “A girl around your age? Aislin?”
I shake my head. “There was no one else.”
“She’s dead then…”
For the one sentance inspiration: it smelled like rain and Autumn,....(thats it thats all I've got lol)
This was going to be longer... but uhm this is all I’ve got atm. Might add more to it later maybe? Also! An actual cannon scene from CoN getting written??? It’s more likely than you think!
It smelled like rain and autumn. Leaves crunched beneath Faye’s boots as she trudged through the forests of Mirrior. Elise and Ciáran carved the path ahead, leading the way as the three of them continued on with their journey. Continued on.
Faye hated it. Hated everything about it. The situation. The words. The fact that they had no choice but to continue on.
Continue on. Stay the course.
Serena was gone. And there was nothing any of them could do about it. They couldn’t storm a castle, bruised and bloody and just the three of them. But oh how Faye wanted to try. Wanted to storm her way right back through the trees until she found the road to Dreyn, and march herself into the castle and tear it down brick by brick until she found Serena.
But she couldn’t.
That was just as likely to get them both killed.
And if Serena didn’t get caught in the crossfire, then once Faye was gone there would be no one left to care. No one left to even think about the little girl trapped somewhere under an unjust king’s control.
She was all Serena had. And Faye knew it. And Elise and Ciáran were both right in saying she was no good to the girl, injured and without control of her powers.
They were both right. She knew. Didn’t mean she didn’t hate it.
your most under-asked about / under appreciated character for the soft headcanon ask meme? (or, alternatively, the character you want to talk about most?) // ~livvywrites
Thank you ❤️❤️
Gonna go with Faye here, cuz I’ve been trying to include/talk about her more. Cuz as a MC she’s very very under appreciated/swept under the rug.
What they smell like
Pine trees, or just forest-y in general.
What their favourite smells in the world are
Cinnamon, freshly baked goods like fruit pies or tarts, and the woods after a rainstorm.
What pajamas they wear/what they wear to sleep in
Living on the streets you don’t really get the luxury of sleepwear, so really just whatever she was wearing when she found a safe spot for her and Rena to call it a night.
This habit continues on even after getting a more stable living situation, my girl always prepared to have to run or make a quick escape.
My favourite ship (if applicable) and a cute headcanon about them
I guess that’d be Faye and Dragon. I’m kinda on the fence about it though, and I’m not sure if it’ll end up canon or not tbh.
But a cute headcanon for them would be: them both staying up way too late, laughing and carrying on, and trying to see which one of them can conjour the largest/most impressive animal using their magic. Just both of them trying to one up each other. (Faye wins, but only because as the “chosen one” her powers are significantly stronger than anyone else’s)
My favourite friendship (if applicable) and a cute headcanon about them
Hmm, Serena and Faye.
Cute headcanon: Faye always wears her hair tied back in one way or another, generally a clumsy braid. Serena just forcing her to sit down, and then braiding her hair for her.
A song that reminds me of them
Worry by Dabin
What animal I think they’d be if they were an animal
Generally I associate her with a wolf. But that may be cuz originally the story was about werewolves. As for something else, perhaps a bird? Or a fox?
What position they sleep in
Curled up in a fetal position, knife clutched tightly between her fingers
Their favourite drink
A spiced apple cider?
A gift I would give them if I could
a hug Probably an ornate knife/dagger, or a journal.
Happy STS!! Do you heavily associate colors, animals, any other symbol to represent your characters and do these appear in your writing? Is there any symbolism in their names?
Happy STS!!!! I’ve been looking forward to answering this one all day, but wanted to wait until I was off of work so I could actually go into detail soooo
Gonna start with symbolism in their names!!
For the MC of the first book, her name Cassandra is derived from a Greek name meaning “to shine”. I picked this name in reference to her powers, which are best described (without getting into spoiler territory) as human glow stick. With some training she can manipulate light and create like orbs and stuff, even turning her power into a weapon. But for a while, while she gets a handle on things she glows blue.
And then her middle name, Faye is a French derivative from a Latin word meant “the Fates”, which connects to her being a child of prophecy. And being the one (of three) fated to save Olira (her world).
And the MC of the third book, Aislin’s name is a varient of the Irish name Aisling which means “dream or vision” which is a reference to the shared visions of the three MCs that are trying to bring them together so they can save the world.
The three MCs, Cassandra, Clarissa, and Aislin also each have another alias. Asha, Adie, and Elidi.
Asha meaning “wish, desire, hope for the future”, this name was chosen for Cassandra because she is the one fated to start it all. If she doesn’t succeed in her part of the prophecy there’s no hope for the future. So all hope rests with her.
Adie, I specifically remember meaning “dark one” but I can’t find the source... so I’m not entirely sure. And it’s been a few months. But that’s what I have written in my notes. But the name was chosen in a reference to Clarissa’s abilities of being able to manipulate shadows.
And Elidi, means “gift of the sun”. Aislin can also manipulate light, similar to Cassandra’s powers. But without getting too spoilery... Aislin’s is a more pure light, like sunlight. Where Cassandra’s is... not... (I have put a lot of thought into this and I’m trying not to give too much away but like I also kinda want to share my secrets 😅😫)
As for other symbolism.... I’m not sure???
I definitely have colours I associate with each character. Like Cassandra is blue. Aislin is green, and gold. And Clarissa is red.
For side characters: Elise has always been purple. Dragon is yellow. Castor silver. Serena is green.
And I strongly associate Clarissa with a wolf, I’m not sure if that shows in the writing or not...
