Awesome Thing of the Day #22 - The YouTube Community

So here's what happened today.

Hannah Hart aka the creator of "My Drunk Kitchen" posted a video on her main channel announcing the kickoff of her indiegogo fundraiser for "Hello, Harto!", a tour across America during which she would make multiple new episodes of MDK while meeting up with her fans, aka Hartosexuals, and doing all sorts of crazy things. She asked her community to raise $50,000 over the next 30 days. That video was posted about 9 hours ago, and since then, she has raised over $75,000. All before the YouTube view counter on that video surpassed the 301 view freeze.

Evan Edinger, another YouTuber, posted a new video on his channel today in which he joked about the upcoming YouTube gathering happening over in the UK in a couple months called "Summer in the City". I saw on Evan's facebook, twitter, and tumblr accounts that the feedback he's been getting from that certain video has been overwhelmingly positive, which makes me very happy for him since it relates very much to the next thing that happened today.

I was working on a YouTube video for my channel all last night and a little bit of the day before in which I explain why 2012 was a very stressful year. For some reason, these video ideas come to me during the time that I'm editing; in fact, a lot of the footage I ended up filming, (which really was a couple 10 second clips of me typing on my computer. haha now I'm kinda glad I ended up not using that footage), went unused. I finished editing and posted it this morning. Afterwards, I felt like it would be a very wise idea to go ahead and tweet all the YouTubers that I showed pictures of in my video, thanking them for making 2012 a little less stressful. Two of my favorite YouTubers, DoodlesByAdzie & Nalif, ended up seeing those tweets and decided to drop comments on my video, causing me to freak out just a little bit. And by a little bit, I mean this.

Anyway, today was just an amazing victory for a lot of people on YouTube I'm sure, just especially for Hannah and Evan. This is definitely one of my favorite days of my Winter Break, apart from Christmas and New Year's obviously. I can't thank all these YouTubers enough and I'm just so, so happy that they're such a big part of my life and how I go about living it. They've restored faith in my life. Seriously. So if any of those YouTubers are somehow reading this, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you so much.

1. Favourite kind of music?

- Of course I like a variety but to give you an idea... I really love acoustic stuff, like Noah Gundersen and recently Orla Gartland, on the flipside however I also really like big and dramatic sounding stuff like Panic! At The Disco and a lot of what Marianas Trench does on their albums (not their singles) And of course, as a singer, I love very vocally strong music sung by good singers. The most important part for me, though I can appreciate the musical side, the vocal side is what will always stand out in my mind.

2. Sweet, sour, or savory?

- Sweet. Always sweet. Anyone who knows me knows I have the worst possible sweet tooth.

3. If you had to describe your fandom in one word, what would it be?

- I don't belong to one specific fandom really, but I think it's pretty easy to describe any and all fandoms in one word: Obsessed. In a good way :) ....usually.

4. Favourite colour(s)?

- This one is pretty obvious. Pink >.>

5. Video Games vs. Board Games?

- I'm not much of a game player, really. But I did have an obsession with Monopoly when I was a kid...

6. Friends vs. Family?

- This is tough because in a lot of ways I consider my friends my family and vise versa. I think if the connection is strong enough the two can kind of cross sides. But I'm going to say Family because family don't end with blood, boy ;) if you get that reference i love you 5ever

7. How many posts do you have on your main blog so far?

- this is embarrassing but.... 52,504 :/

8. How many people do you follow?

- Currently I follow 133 people but the number tends to fluctuate. I was following close to 200 and in the last few months i've been unfollowing a lot of people due to reasons... like a tendency to post things i found triggery, loss of interest in their specific fandom, infrequency updating, or just not interested in following them anymore. If I unfollowed you I'm sorry and please don't take it personally I probably still love you <3

9. How many people follow you?

- 245 :) i've been getting a lot of followers lately for some reason... Hi? 

10. If you could become an expert in one skill, what would it be? 

- I think ultimately I'd just like to be better at being independent and getting things done for myself. Maybe that's a dumb answer, but living with anxiety for so long has held me back from a lot of things and I consider it a skill to be able to just go out into the world and do stuff without freaking out about it. 

11. If you could learn any instrument, what would it be?

 - I really just want to be a better guitar player and pianist. I know I just don't work hard enough at it and never have so it's my own fault that my skills are limited but if I could just magically be better at player either or both of those I think I would have a much easier time with song writing...

Awesome Thing of the Day #21 - Directing a Film

Today we finished filming for our school project in which I directed where the camera would go and how everything would go down. It was a fantastic experience and it was a blast preparing everything. Now it's just time to edit it all together. In a day and a half. This is gonna be crazy. AWESOME!

Awesome Thing of the Week #2 - College Anticipation

Week of Sunday, December 9th, 2012

I just realized I'm going to know whether or not I got accepted into my top college choice by the end of the week. This also means that by the end of the week, I'm going to know where I'm going to be for the next 4+ years of my life. It's kind of like high school extended, sort of. It's exhilarating to think about, but also scary. What if I don't get in?! Although, I don't get too nervous about it. Whatever happens happens for a reason, right? I always thought that's how the world worked. People get what they deserve. I still don't know if that's a good thing or not. Just depends on the way you think about it. Well, now I get an entire week to realize if I really deserve to go to this college or not. Hopefully it's a resounding yes. AWESOME!

Awesome Thing of the Day #20 - A New Favorite

Saturday, December 8th, 2012 - [17 days 'til christmas]

As you might have seen, I read the book It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini at the beginning of this week and today I watched the film adaptation. It's now either my new favorite movie or my 2nd favorite movie, battling with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I love how both movies have the same feeling at some parts, and the humor really fits me I think.

At first, I really didn't appreciate how different the film was with IKFS, but that was really only with the details, and I guess it wouldn't matter to those who didn't read the book. Throughout the movie, the differences came together to really make a great difference that I could appreciate. :) I'm really quite glad there weren't any loose ends that were created as a result of these changes and I applaud the directors for allowing such changes to be made.

I'm probably going to look into more movies by Emma Roberts, such as The Art of Getting By. And I now consider Zach Galifianakis to be one of my favorite actors for his ability to ad lib and crack up those around him without losing his composure. :) He made me laugh so freaking hard, especially with those outtakes. Those were a doosy. Can't wait to watch this movie again some time! AWESOME!

Awesome Thing of the Day #19 - The Most Inspiring Book

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 - [20 days 'til christmas]

Today I sat down for 5 hours in a library and finished It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. It's a story with a main character I feel like I can really relate to, especially in the way he deals with his depression. The message of the novel is so fantastic and I can't wait to watch the movie this weekend. For a person that doesn't really read too much, I'm pretty impressed that I read the whole thing in a matter of three days! :D I guess I just proved to myself that I am able to enjoy reading and I can finish an assignment early very quickly if I really put my mind to it. I really wanna thank the library I was at for serving as such a great work environment for me to get work done. Craig Gilner is now one of my favorite characters from a novel and the one I can relate the most to. I have a really good feeling that this movie rendition is gonna have a (500) Days of Summer feeling to it, and I absolutely adored that movie. :) Another thing I can't wait for! :) AWESOME!

Awesome Thing of the Day #18 - The Choice of Being Productive

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 - [21 days 'til christmas]

This one is kinda going off of yesterday's Awesome Thing of the Day in which I spent 3 hours at the library reading It's Kind of Funny Story by Ned Vizzini and got stuff done. I ended up following my footsteps and reading 120 pages in the same exact spot as yesterday and it felt good to be productive once again. Though, right when I got home, I spent the next two hours not being productive. I find it amazing how in the same day, I was super ultra productive and horribly unproductive and sleep-deprived. It's interesting how 'being productive' is a choice decided completely by me and that in reality, I don't actually have to do anything. It's just a good thing to be productive; it's not mandatory or anything. I guess I'll just try my best, at least for the rest of this week. AWESOME!

Awesome Thing of the Day #17 - Choosing to be Productive

Monday, December 3rd, 2012 - [22 days 'til christmas]

Today ended up being one of those days where I really focused and got work done. Due to procrastination, I figured I had about a week to finish a 400 page novel including a 4 page paper to go along with it, so I really had to finish the book in less than a week. I was on page 8 before today and in about 3 hours, I read over 150 pages. For a person that doesn't read much and usually falls asleep while reading, that's pretty freaking impressive. I just like how the book is so well written and it's something I can relate to. I feel like Craig and I have similar mindsets. :) It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini is growing to be one of the best novels I've ever read, but then again I haven't read much. Loving it so far, and I'm loving how productive I can be when I really choose to. AWESOME!
