An angel without a purpose is a fallen angel.

When the first traces of consciousness emerged on his world, Cassiel was sent to maintain harmony on Earth and prevent humanity from falling into "sin." By nature, humans were guided by greedy decisions and ended up harming themselves and their environment. Cassiel was overthrown after failing his life's mission, harboring a great grudge against humanity and applying "divine justice" to those he considered most corrupt, now following his own philosophy of life.

But all was not lost in his life; a mysterious being seemed to take pity on his soul and promised him better opportunities...

Was Castiel originally meant to be Cassiel? The Archangel? It would explain his favouritism by Chuck in S5 as he would be the Archangel of Gods Wrath. It would explain his range of powers both before and after he got cut off from Heaven. It would explain why in S5 he so ardently believes God will come back for them. It would explain why Loki/Gabriel had such an intense reaction to him in Changing Channels. It would even explain why the subtitles call him Cass with two s's (short for Cassiel) and not Cas.

Did the writers just chicken out? Did they not want Dean having an ultra powerful Archangel boyfriend? I don't know that the story would have changed too much having him be the Archangel vs the angel of Thursday. In fact it would make his general malaise in s4 and his face turn and Wrath in s5 make much more sense.

I could even see an entire plot of him figuring out he is the Archangel Cassiel and that Heavens bureaucratic nonsense and/or Michaels meddling simply muffled him. Wrapped up that part of him and made him forget. His own Witness Protection to match Gabriels.

Im a thousand percent sure im not the first person to think of it. But man it's compelling.

When Cassiel had barely reached adulthood, his father Dove was assassinated, elevating him to the head of the Atropos family. As dictated in Dove's will, Cassiel underwent invasive head surgery to affix Dove's mask to his face. This allows a datagear AI recreation of Dove to take control of his body, maintaining control of Atropos even after death.

Fascinated by all the life on earth: flora, fauna, and lastly. . . Humans. He protected them, fought dozens of battles for the life he seemed so sacred. Curious about their traditions, their motivations that he thought were so simple, so fun, so short-lived. . .so Human.

But it seemed it wasn't enough.

The first angel to fall, the first warrior to be taken, stolen, and betrayed. The human curiosity knows no limits, it never did. Yet, Esmeralda never resisted, never fought back. His whole existence dedicated to the same beings who were now torturing him, stealing his life essence, just because of some simple, short-lived and human, motivations.

Living his last years hoping, with his whole soul that they would see the errors of their ways, would regret and repent. . . But that moment never came. All of those years, praying for those souls, making it as easier as he could. Whortless.

Something shifted. . . His mind uncapable of understanding. . . Why?, why had they done this to him?, why to the same beings that protected them?, all for some. . .simple, short-lived, selfish, greedy, cruel, human motivations.

He spent his last moments discovering Hate. Towards them, towards the same humanity that had betrayed him, even after he did everything. . . His whole existence, all for them.

In agony, exploding in emotion, all he felt was Hate. But, deep down, getting buried beneath all the anger, he yearned for everything he lost, his peace, his purpose, and his dear lover. Who he wished, hadn't suffered the same tragic fate as him.

This character is related exclusively to Cassiel's (by @chubbky) Lore at the moment. He is not a character staying currently at the Milkshake Mansion (as he is no longer with us). But he is part of the same universe.

Some little fun facts about the design >u<:

Every time he got hurt badly, his wounds would regenerate as solid gold, replacing the once muscle and skin there.

All the colourful clothing and details were in honour of the life he was sworn to protect. The half sleeves being a gift from the humans.

With a tall yet skinny figure, solid 2,17 m. while his wings were just a tad taller than him.
