Cassie sighed. “You always win,” she said again. She had been pitting herself recently. She knew it was selfish, but she didn’t want to keep these emotions inside anymore.

Tentatively, the empath reached out towards her. She pulled her hand back just shy of resting on her shoulder. “But Cassie...What did I win? I haven’t done anything.” She wanted to help her friend, but she needed to know the cause first.

A wide grin pulled across the girl’s lips as she jumped up clapping her hands together enthusiastically. “And I’m just doin’ mine sugaplum!” Harper twirled the baseball bat in her hands, shrugging her shoulders. “Listen, I’ve just gotta break into Joker’s safe liar. Harley said so. She gave him the boot and I’m just tryna get her favorite shoes back.”
