The glass in her hand slammed back to the bartop with the sharp snap of her excitement in the mention of her best friend. “You know how..---” She wiped moisture from the corner of her mouth and sat a little taller. “You know how people always make jokes about the two old people in the retirement home who’ve known each other their whole lives and know everything there is to know about how fucked up the world is and how fucking stupid it is to just want to be there as long as you’ve got this one single fucking person with you?” A sharp hiccup rounded out a quick breath with another shot poured out before her, “she’s my ninety four year old wheelchair buddy, who’s losing her mind, right beside me losing it too.”
