4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

lindsey fitzharris! her presentation of this subject matter was so easy to read and well done, I'm excited to read more from her.

mean little deaf queer: my absolute fave books are darkly humorous gay memoirs. someone on tumblr recommended this one to me and it absolutely fit the bill! thank you to whoever that was lol

13. What were your least favorite books of the year?

most of the full books I read this year were pretty good, but here's a novella and a short graphic novel for my hater list.

things have gotten worse since we last spoke: suuuuch a tasty concept, but such a failure in execution. suffered from its efforts to incorporate realism into its disturbing toxic lesbianism, and suffered more from boring characters with no clear motivation for being disturbing and toxic.

open earth: my critiques about this are probably unfair because it's a small publisher and I just randomly picked this up from a display at the library, but it's my poly rep and I get to be annoyed by it. I know it was a short graphic novel, but I wished the setting was more fleshed out, I wished the characters were more interesting, and most of all I wished the plot was something less basic than "learning to communicate needs to multiple partners." literally that's the whole plot. presumably the intended audience for this book is already polyamorous...we know this shit! give me something at least slightly interesting to read

The 1 is a subway line that goes up the west side in nyc, and the west village has a few stops, yes you’re right. and there is a subway stop specifically for the 1 train right outside Taylor’s Tribeca apartment building. I HATE you for pointing that out because now the song title makes me feel even more insane. Although I my cynical brain can’t imagine Taylor knows about the subway stop/line even if it’s right outside her door because I’m 10000% sure she has never even looked at a subway station let alone set foot in one, but it is VERY interesting that the one outside her window is quite literally the 1 train.

THERE'S A STOP RIGHT OUTSIDE OF TAYLOR'S APARTMENT...bro this somehow makes it even more painful even though i totally agree that she has never set foot in a subway station lmaoooo
