Bitter Water Girl pendant, Melanie Yazzie
These winged female figures, called pollinators, are named for Yazzie's personal Navajo clans, the Salt Water and Bitter Water. They serve as symbols of empowerment and the possibility of creating good things. Yazzie sees these as her protectors. In her artwork she follows the Navajo philosophy of seeking beauty, balance and harmony.
