I’m starting 2000 points of Thousand Sons. Castellax-Achea.
The work begins. These two are not attached to their bases permanently, they are pinned. This is so that I can move them on to a diorama that I will be making later in the year (after my Sith Lord Cosplay).
The diorama will be of an assault made by my Iron Warriors into an Imperial Fists command centre, deep within a city. So I'm thinking of using a GW Zone Mortalis tile for it, so that I can cut up a section. The main theme is the brute directness of the Iron Warriors, instead of taking the winding corridors to the command centre, they have taken the most direct route, through the walls. The Thousand Sons Sorcerer is an ally of the Iron Warriors, escaping Zhao-Akkad during the Heresy with a series of Castellax Automata. He will diverting down one of the corridors and creating a bunker with his powers by bending the metal and stone around him. I aim to have green LEDs lighting up that section from under the floor to show the dark powers that he is channelling.
The command centre will have the Iron Warrior champion in close combat with the Imperial Fists commander, whilst IV Legion marines with boarding shields and terminators spread out behind them to start firing at the other Imperial Fists in the room.
Before I can confirm numbers or anything, I will need to get ahold of a Zone Mortalis tile so I can measure it up.
Beep boop beep.
That’s machine spirit for “I’m going to murder you, and the dude next to you with my cannon that fires literal darkness”
Finished up a pair of Castellax battle-automata with Darkfire Cannons.
I really enjoyed painting these models, the weathering process on the metal and the layering on the armour plates were a lot of fun. Very proud of how they turned out.
Lambda-Phi-398, Castellax Battle Automata indentured to the 442nd grand Battalion, IVth Legion
The heraldry on Lambda-Phi-398′s right pauldron is the skull mask of the Iron Warriors and the tower within a cog wheel of the Ordo Reductor, each halved but displayed as one. This is indicative of the battle automata’s dual loyalties to to IVth Legion and the Adeptus Mechanicus, although for all intents and purposes his is treated as a fellow battle-brother by the Marines of the 442nd. Praevian Euclid, the legionary officer charged with maintaining the 442nd’s inducted automata favors Lambda-Phi-398 and is known for his habit of conversing with its silent bulk while he performs ritual maintenance on his mechanical charges.
So I’m rereading “Siege of Castellax”...
“ ‘All humans are weak maggots,’ Brother Uzraal growled. ‘They exist only to serve the Legions and even in this they are found wanting.’ He turned his angry glare to the front of the compartment where a half-dozen Cohort auxiliaries sat in high-backed crash chairs. ‘Tell me, flesh-maggots,’ he barked at the men. ‘Tell me what gives you the right to breathe the same air as a legionary? What reason can you give me for not opening this door and feeding you to the wind? Why– Ow!’ Captain Rhodaan leaned back in his seat, the little motors built into his gauntlet making tiny whirring noises after their abrupt impact against the side of Uzraal’s helmet. The stricken Iron Warrior turned about in a display of wolfish fury. His anger quickly faded when he saw it was his captain who had struck him. “
Get fucking rekt Uzraal
‘Captain Rhodaan, this is the Bastion.’ Rhodaan stiffened slightly as he heard the voice of Sergeant Ipos over his vox. ‘Over-Captain Vallax reported your craft destroyed with all personnel. It is good to hear that his report was in error.’
Rhodaan took a second to drain the emotion from his voice before responding. Again, he considered the eerie accuracy of the shots which had disabled the assault boat’s dorsal engine. So, Vallax had thought Squad Kyrith destroyed, had he?
‘Squad Kyrith is fully operational,’ Rhodaan said, his tone as tempered and mechanical as that of a servitor. ‘We require only extraction to pursue our objective.’ If Vallax thought he would reap the glory of assaulting Dirgas on his own, then the Over-Captain was going to be disappointed.
‘Negative, Captain Rhodaan,’ Ipos replied. ‘The Dirgas mission has been cancelled. The xenos have descended upon Vorago in considerable force. They must not be allowed to establish a beachhead. Warsmith Andraaz has made the extermination of the xenos within Vorago top priority for all brothers of the Third Grand Company.’
‘Squad Kyrith obeys,’ Rhodaan said, slamming his fist against his chest plate in an almost automatic gesture of fealty. Beneath his helmet, his lip curled in a sneer. If his men were denied the opportunity to win glory in the raid on Dirgas, then at least Vallax wouldn’t be adding any laurels to his name either.

Checking how the assembled #castellax fit in their alcoves next to work out how to magnetize the arms and weapons #30k #model #inq28 #40k #miniature I’m particularly happy with the way they fill the alcoves and the overall look of the #churchtank especially with the LED lights in it
