After a week of bartering with the campus’ staff, Mizuki had finally managed to gain access to the school’s library despite her not being a student. When first entering the library, she had stared in awe at the wide variety of books, her blues eyes glimmering when she realized that this was knowledge that was unknown to her. And then she started her work and diving into adventure.
After another week, she had gotten into a routine of grabbing one, two, or five books and hiding away near the center of the library but her normal spot was taken. So today she retreated to one of the dark corners. And when she went to turn on the light, quickly noticing that it wasn’t working.
Slowly she inhaled, laying her hand flat against the bulb. For a moment her breathing stopped and her eyes scrunched together. When her eyes opened again, the light bulb was on and lighting up the dim corner. She smiled in satisfaction before taking a seat. Within minutes, Mizuki was buried deep into her book.
And then a hand clamped over her mouth from behind, and her back instinctively tensed. “Huh! Mhw wmh mhmmmin,” she protested through muffled cries, her gaze still staring forward. The audacity! Who was keeping her voice silent??
