A quieter and cheaper neighbourhood, Northistle is more known for the nature surrounding it than the families themselves. With many of its homes residing deep in the forested and mountainous areas, not many people venture through unless they want to explore the park or fish in the Central Pond.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤[1] Dae Residence
Home of the Dae family, composed of Medjine Calixte-Dae, and her daughter Dawn Dae. Her son, Duskin Dae, used to live in the home, but moved out to live in Centretown and get a more 'authentic college experience'. Before the disappearance of Medjine's husband, Gi Dae, the home was much more lively and positive, but now finds itself in shambles. The grass is overgrown, the drywall is stained, and the wood floors are cracked, but Dusk always sends back money to try and keep things stable.
╰┈➤[2] Northistle Suburb
A small cluster of homes residing beside the park, all seen better days. The neighbourhood is known for its cheap and poorly managed houses, but they are a close-knit and connected community. All neighbours support one another, making it one of the more wholesome areas in Casus, even ahead of the Welcome Wagon (WW) suburb.
╰┈➤[3] Northistle Forest
A thick coniferous forest moving up the mountain, with some cottages along the way. Mostly quiet, people don't tend to traverse this area. The residents within the forest are still technically part of the Northistle Suburb, and sometimes come down to participate in community projects. Often, they are on their own, mostly living off the land. One of the cottages is an AirBNB, and often attracts the wrong crowds. We all know how bad AirBNB can be...
╰┈➤[4] Northistle Park
A large open field, often where kids are running around and throwing frisbees or balls. The park used to be larger, separated into Northistle and Southistle, but the Valmous family purchased the Southistle property and the park became much smaller.
╰┈➤[5] Central Pond
A freshwater pond with native fish and plant life, shared with the Valmous properties. Most people fish in the pond, while kids dip their feet in.
A dangerous and frightening forest. Each decade, the forest grows closer to the town and overtakes the farmlands, despite people trying to trim it down. It escalates up the mountain, shadowing the town and reminding residents of their small size. It holds many secrets and pieces of history, that new residents have no idea about. If you look closely, you might see mushrooms or plants moving in weird ways, as if avoiding humans.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤[1] The Pit
A place where bad influences tend to hang out - a safe area where people can do drugs, drink freely, and blast annoyingly loud music. Covered in spray painted artwork, huge sticks positioned into makeshift statues, and trash littered all over the place. It borders on the Blunderlands Forest entrance, so most people are too nervous to approach, making it perfect for people to let loose and have fun.
╰┈➤[2] Abandoned Shed
Right on the edge of the forest, this is an unknown and suspicious shed. No one has went in for decades. Covered in weeds, vines, and tall grass. Even people with experience in the forest don't go anywhere near this shed.
╰┈➤[3] Glass Pond
A crystal clear pond with several beautiful fish, where the rocks carry a beautiful non-metallic luster. The waters filter from further into the forest from the Magma Doluit Deam, leaving it with a glittery shimmer. Sometimes, college students will swim and skinny dip, though residents push people not to go near it. Anything near the Blunderlands Forest is always risky to examine... but the water is eerily hypnotizing.
╰┈➤[4] Mountain Strip
A cliff with vertical rock, steep and intimidating. It has beautiful grooves that stretch all around the mountain. Before the forest escalated further into the farmlands, residents used to rock climb the strip, but now sits unused.
╰┈➤[5] Magma Doluit Deam
A statue depicting the leading religious diety of Casus, Doluit Deam. The Goddess' eyes drip with a metalic, shiny fluid, pouring into her hand and into the waters below, a beautiful waterfall with emotional implications. It was built several centuries ago and was worshiped by residents before the forest overgrew the area, with the water being used for several rituals. Now it is largely forgotten by residents, hidden within the forest and untouched for generations. The water is like a reflective mirror, filtering all throughout the town...
╰┈➤[6] Priestess Quentin's Castle
An abandoned castle, overgrown with weeds. Used to house the reigning Priestess of Casus Vallis, Priestess Quentin. Leading the land over the 19th century, she was said to have a personal connection to the Doluit Deam. Monarchy was introduced to Casus by settlers, and Priestess Quentin was a native villager who used her connections to rule the town peacefully. Histories don't know exactly how the Priestess passed, but some claim she was assassinated for her radical and progressive views. Almost immediately after her passing, the college was in works to be planned by a stranger.
╰┈➤[7] Priestess Clearing
Used to be a campground when the forest was not as scary. Before the woods overgrew the area, the campground was bustling. Now it is simply an empty clearing, with plant life refusing to grow. Casus history books claim that the Priestess and her knight often rested in this clearing, sharing romantic moments... though they were star-crossed lovers.
╰┈➤[8] Dead Man's Pond
A huge pool of water, murky and stinky. While Glass Pond is clear and safe to drink, Dead Man's Pond is full of filth and dead fish. Gas emanates from the waters, and any bugs that fly by die pretty quickly. The waters filter from the Magma Doluit Deam. Surprisingly, the only living creatures are frogs and toads, which do not follow a normal diet. Suspicious...
╰┈➤[9] Marshlands Cave
A cave where Dead Man's Pond's waters filter through. The cave drips with red, harsh-smelling fluid, and has the nickname 'Bleeding Cave' or 'Decomp Cave'. People don't like it because it stinks REAL bad in there, but there is a lot of plant life and creatures to explore.
╰┈➤[10] Marshlands
Filled with amphibians and filth, the Marshlands is largely avoided. Back in the late 1960s, a man and his lover were murdered on the land, their bodies decomposing into the marsh and only being found months later. People say his spirit still stalks the waters, so people don't get too close. The cave and marsh are closely connected, all the waters coming from the Magma Doluit Deam.
╰┈➤[11] Willow Residence
The home of Seth Willow. Nobody talks to him, nobody knows him. People who have seen him claim he doesn't age, and has lived there for decades. Don't get close to him.
The bane of all residents in Casus, Valmous Properties. Prior to the Valmous Family's arrival, the town was cordial and comfortable, treating the nature with respect and having sufficient trading amongst villagers. Theophilis Valmous was one of the first settlers to set up on Casus land, and while villagers were welcoming and nice, Theophilis was not. Almost immediately, he was competitive with the Summertree Family, the most powerful family native to Casus. Theophilis quickly took over their orchard and fields, tearing down plantlife to make way for his ginormous home and family. As the centuries past, the Valmous family only grew bigger, richer, and more powerful. To this day, they butt heads with the Summertree family and other town residents, wanting to take on more land and claim more space.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤[1] Valmous Park
Previously known as Southistle park, Theophilis Valmous took over the property and built a fence across the way, separating the sections of park and claiming it as his. Valmous Properties residents do not frequent the park, but the grass is always mowed and artificially green, feigning luxury.
╰┈➤[2] Central Pool
The pond shared between Northistle Park and Valmous Park. On the Northistle side, it's called 'Central Pond', but the Valmous family aren't known for their smarts or smooth words, choosing 'Pool' to appear cleaner and more treated. News flash: it's not. It has the same fish, and kids often sneak from the Northistle side onto Valmous parks by walking through the pond.
╰┈➤[3] Happy Family Valmous Orchard
Land with several trees, tended to by hired gardeners. The trees are separated by what fruit they grow, and are monitored very closely to produce the highest quality of product. All fruit grown in the orchard is sold within Casus, but for ridiculous prices. Families are also welcome to visit the orchard and pick fruit for themselves, but are made to pay a hefty price - which goes right into the Valmous Family's pockets.
╰┈➤[4] Apples
Apple trees! Flourishing thanks to the wonders of Doluit Deam.
╰┈➤[5] Peaches
Peach trees! Flourishing thanks to the wonders of Doluit Deam.
╰┈➤[6] Pears
Pear trees! Flourishing thanks to the wonders of Doluit Deam.
╰┈➤[7] Plums
Plum trees! Flourishing thanks to the wonders of Doluit Deam.
╰┈➤[8] Orchard Shed (Mirror Pool)
Just a shed with tools necessary for tree trimming. Nothing special!
╰┈➤[9] Orchard Parking
For people who are looking to pick fruit with their families, there is a parking lot for their convenience!
╰┈➤[10] Valmous Mansion
Where the Valmous Family currently resides. Built in the late 1700s by Theophilis Valmous (well, his servants), the property has seen its fair share of alterations over the centuries. It is a very large home, surrounded by tall trees and a heavy metal gate with security patrolling at all times.
╰┈➤[11] Valmous Private School
A school for the gifted (rich), prosperous (disrespectful), and powerful (nepotistic), this private school was known for raising several notable youth. Working with ages from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the school was small but well acclaimed. About a year ago, the school was closed down for 'asbestos treatment', but residents believe that something sinister occured on school grounds. Now, all students who previously attended this school now attend Casus Elementary, Doluit High School, or are homeschooled.
╰┈➤[12] Open Construction Zone (Mirror Pool)
The Valmous family is building a new building and pool for themselves, but construction is halted while they... clean up a shiny, metallic mess.
╰┈➤[13] Underground Garage
Where the Valmous family holds its many vehicles. The town is small enough that very little residents have a car, but this family has several, all barely useable on the mostly dirt roads.
╰┈➤[14] Tissera Residence (Archie's Home)
Home of the Tissera's, a prolific family in the area. The patriarch, Lawrence Tissera, is a simple carpenter born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. He is a quiet guy, and keeping to himself and working for the city. The matriarch, Pethmi Tissera, is typically viewed as the head of the family. She is an exceptionally talented musician from Sri Lanka, specializing in the ravanahatha(a Sri Lankan string instrument) and the violin, and working as a professor in the Casus College of International Arts. She moved to Trinidad after performing with her orchestra and meeting Lawrence by chance, deciding never to return home in favour of him. Their two children, Harmony-Archibald and Symphony-Archibald Tissera, now live out of the home, with Harmony attending college and Symphony travelling the world to perform with his band, B&C (Mr. Banana & Mr. Corn).
╰┈➤[15] Hair and Care by Design
An at-home hair studio in the Valmous area. It is only frequented by fellow Valmous residents, as it is incredibly difficult for outsiders to get in.
╰┈➤[16] Flores Residence
Another prolific family in Casus, made up of Government workers, with the patriarch, Gregory Flores acting as the town mayor. There really isn't much to say about them except that they're too powerful for their own good.
╰┈➤[17] Valmous Courtyard
The 'park' most frequented by Valmous residents, having benches and shrubs shaped like flowers. You'll see couples walking their dogs or kids playing in the grass, but they're never there for long.
╰┈➤[18] Food Truck
A small food kiosk planted within Valmous Courtyard, serving fancy coffees, artisan pastries, and caviar. "Food Truck" implies it's simple, selling fried foods and snacks, but no one outside of Valmous Properties actually likes the shit they pedal.
Casus Vallis is a small valley town nestled between two large mountains, which scale so high they only inhabit goats and birds. It is a very isolated town, surviving mostly off food from their own lands, and having only two ways of entry; a single road into the town, and open fields for descending helicopters.
In the early 20th century, a college was built by a significant scientist that was indigenous to Casus, prompting academics nation wide to attend and learn an exclusive education, renowned for its abnormal agriculture and fascinating history.
As time went on, those in the town with power started to overtake more property, leading to tensions between The Summertree Family, The Valmous Family, The Farmers Association, and The Governs of Casus. The Valmous Family is one of the first families to settle in Casus, while the Summertree family is the longest living family indigenous to Casus.
For as long as the town existed, the people knew never to traverse the forests unless well equipped and well trained. As years go on, the forest grows, touching closer to the town and covering historical relics, such as the revered Princess Quentin's Castle, a monarch who ruled over Casus in the early 19th century.
The town now works in a tense harmony, feigned for appearances, as trading amongst the farmers, the government, and the academics is crucial for the towns continuous development.

This is the officially updated map of Casus Vallis. It is larger, more open, and more welcoming!
╰┈➤ The first map depicts the whole town, without labels, just to view its basic appearance.
╰┈➤ The second map depicts how each community in Casus is separated. There may some intersecting.
╰┈➤ To read specific points on each sub group in the town, look below!

Blunderlands Forest
This land is owned by one of the first recognizable families that thrived in old Casus, before settlement and industry overtook its natural lands, The Summertrees (Niibin Mitig). The family has tended much of the land for several generations, and continue to do so to this very day with their beautiful ranch and park. Before The Valmous Family bought out a majority of the land in Casus, the nature surrounding the ranch was much more plentiful and thriving. As the years go on, the property grows smaller and smaller, with The Summertrees continuing to fight for their home. Compared to the rest of the town, these properties seem surprisingly normal.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤[1] Summertree Residence, Ranch Entrance
A large cottage owned by Biskane Summertree and Nimki Laliberte, a museum curator and rancher respectively. The two women have been married for several years, with the property falling onto Nimki's shoulders after her grandmothers passing. Since then, Biskane's niece (Gwendolyn) and grandneice (Judith-Namid) moved down from Toronto to live with the two, helping them tend the land and keep the home in shape.
╰┈➤[2] Grain Silos
Holds the grains meant for feeding the animals on the farm, procured from local farms beside Summertree Properties.
╰┈➤[3] Petting Zoo
A space held by The Summertree family, where the public is able to meet chickens, goats, sheep, and many more.
╰┈➤[4] Supply Shed
Holds tools meant for ranching and tending to the land.
╰┈➤[5] Goats
Shelter for the several goats on the property.
╰┈➤[6] Cows
Barn for the several cows on the property.
╰┈➤[7] Horses
Stable for the several horses on the property.
╰┈➤[8] Summertree Pond
A freshwater pond that the animals can drink from, with lots of plant life flourishing around it.
╰┈➤[9] Summertree Park
An empty plot of land that is pleasant for walking, stargazing, and picnics.
╰┈➤[10] Parking Lot
Meant for families to park their vehicles to tour the petting zoo, ranch, or animal studies building belonging to Casus College.
When anyone first enters Casus, they are met with a lovely welcome sign, driving left into the College Campus. If they decide to take a right, they have the pleasure of driving through a small suburb nestled into wilderness. It's quiet and the neighbours tend to keep to themselves, making it a nice neighbourhood for walking. The forest is lush and leads up into the mountains, making it a natural playground for youth and adults alike. It is also home to the radio station and a few unused factories.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤[1] Casus Tourism
The first thing you see when you enter the valley is the tour guides of Casus. Their obvious job is to show people the history of Casus through its college, city hall, and nature. Their not-so obvious job is to check everyone coming in and going out of the town.
Casus is a small town mostly populated by students, so its important to check who comes in. Returning alumni? Store inventory delivery? Coming back from visiting the beach? You're on the record.
Don't worry about it.
╰┈➤[2] Jaime's Treehouse
Jaime is a high school student who attends Doluit High School, and this is where they live. Living alone in high school can be difficult, but they have some really great friends who happen to love being there. And yes, Jaime built their own home.
╰┈➤[3] Podecki Residence
The Podeckis are nuclear family, living in Casus for about 20 years. The family includes Oscar, the miserable patriarch and failed sports star, Bernadette, the joyful matriarch and lovely grocery store clerk, Frances, the eldest daughter who is currently away getting her doctorate, Donovan, the middle son currently attending Casus College for botany, and the youngest child Oscar, attending Doluit High School after the closure of Valmous Private School.
╰┈➤[4] W.W. Well
An old and unused well. Used to be frequented by the neighbourhood when the town was much smaller. Now, it's mostly blocked off with rocks and spider webs. It's pretty dark down there.
╰┈➤[5] W.W. Forest
The lush forest that greets the entrance of the town and leads up into the mountains. There is a big fenced off area right in the middle of it, but that doesn't stop people from going through and exploring.
What does Mirror Pool mean?
Mirror Pools are reflective bodies of fluid that give the appearance of liquid mercury, but are presumed to be harmless. The town will often spread folk tales about Mirror Pools and what they mean. Don't bother looking into them. They are simply a unique phenomina found only in Casus Vallis.
╰┈➤[6] Radio Tower
A very old radio tower, seen some better days. Still sending and receiving radio waves correctly. Maybe some more things too.
╰┈➤[7] 105.4 Rascal FM & 560 AM Casus News
The two longest running and last surviving radio stations in Casus. In the 80's, the town was bustling with several radio stations with lots of different music selections. These days, the only two lasting radio stations are present in the same building, running on different radio signals.
Rascal FM plays a lot of - for lack of a better word - "Dad Rock", hosted by their long-time host "Merlin", not-so-known full name Donald Brouwer. The funny nickname came from their old mentor, the previous owner of the Radio Tower and building, as an acknowledgement that Merlin never left work.
Casus News is the more popular station, and news source for Casus residents and their neighbouring towns. Talks about happenings of Casus College, city hall, everyday residents, and the world. Hosted by Casus College history professor Todd Millers.
╰┈➤[8] Abandoned Milling
This is the start of the many abandoned factories in Casus. Decades ago, the town relied purely on making their own equipment and materials. The Milling Factory made all the metallic parts for all of Casus' businesses and machines. These days, all pieces are outsourced and brought in by helicopter each month.
╰┈➤[9] Abandoned Factory
An old and non-functional food processing factory. Used to make canned goods and baby food jars. Was shut down after it was discovered they were cutting corners in production. Yikes!
╰┈➤[10] Abandoned Woodworking
This factory made and sold wooden planks, furniture, and refurbished materials. Went out of business in the late 90's when the owner went missing. Don't look into it.
╰┈➤[11] Run-Down Factory
The only factory still functioning, though falling apart. Makes plastic kids toys for local stores, Benny's Diner, and ships around the province. It has definitely seen some better days.
The Casus College of International Arts is a lesser known small-town college, with about 2000 students regularly attending. Unfortunately it was more popular in the past, with academics coming from all over to explore Casus nature, history, and culture. These days however, the school is every students last resort and mostly finds itself with 'leftovers'. The school, and arguably the town itself, has had several controversies that have greatly altered its reputation.
For most of its being, Casus Vallis was known as a quiet, reclusive, and offputtingly fanatic rural farm town with no intention of expanding. In the early 20th Century, shortly after the reigning Priestess fell out of power, a stranger travelled on foot through the mountains into town, claiming to have visions of the future and prosperity found in Casus. They claimed to have seen schematics and blueprints for a college meant to change the lives of any who attend, even having them on hand to spread amongst the crowd.
Should have been a red flag, but Casus loves its fanatics, and they let a stranger build a huge college in the small valley. Of course the small town was gullible enough to fall for another claim to power after their monarchy just fell apart, but some claim that it wasn't all about the money and prestige, and was actually truthful about their visions.
Regardless of the truth, Casus Vallis now has a colourful eyesore blessing the entrance of town every day.
∘₊✧──────────────────✧₊∘
╰┈➤Casus College of International Arts
The buildings that make up the college itself. Over the years it has expanded to include more subjects than just art, but this college prides itself on its applied arts programs. These days, the college is only really a college in name, and is more comparable to a university; despite being in a small town, it is home to many genius doctors, scientists, lawyers, engineers, and more. While it is technically a university, Casus College keeps its original title, keeping their education and services diverse and 'high quality'. Think of this place like a college, university, and trade school all rolled into one.
All the buildings labels are self explanatory, you can find professors relating to their specialties in their buildings. The Commons(A) is where you'll find the leisure, food court, and head office staff.
╰┈➤Casus College Residence
The buildings that many students attending Casus College call home. Each building is separated by words that align with The Doluit Deams teachings and followings.
➸ ❝ Dolor ❞ meaning "Pain"
➸ ❝ Infirnum ❞ meaning "Inflame"
➸ ❝ Artis ❞ meaning "Craft"
➸ ❝ Effugium ❞ meaning "Escape"
➸ ❝ Speculo ❞ meaning "Mirror"
While the residences are often occupied by students who live outside the town, a few students who were raised in the town also made the decision to move onto campus. Harmony-Archibald Tissera is an example student who lives in Residence, despite their family living within town grounds. Residence Supply (VI) is where students can get simple foods like cereal, fast food, and ramen packs.
╰┈➤College Properties
Buildings that are made to serve the school, but are not technically school buildings, go here. It is public property more frequented by students. The Casus College Hospital (1) is for the whole town, but offers students the opportunity to learn in a hands-on way. The Drive-in Check-in (10) and Theatre (11) are higher up in the mountains, a quick drive or 15 minute walk up a winding hill, and offers movies overlooking the whole town.
