“I’m not going to make a bathing costume,” I said, like a liar. This cute cotton number from a 1880s pattern (from Prior Attire’s Victorian Dressmaking 1) would look equally appropriate on the beach as in a martial arts anime. Also, this little hat is so unflattering and I love it. The yellow was dyed in weld a few weeks ago with Actual Alchemist Friend, and has has all sorts of fun variations.
There are way too many buttons here (16 on the top, 2 on the belt, 2 on the bottoms), and if I make another I will almost definitely close the front, and maybe make it a bit more fitted. The other thing to keep in mind is that this pattern would need very little alteration to make a Wednesday Addams bathing suit, and I just might have needs. Next thing, though, is a chemise that fits nicely under, and my experimental flotation corset, since I actively sink like a stone in open water. I did find flippers in a matching blue, and I’m looking forward to my next cottage trip in style!
Athena is the Most Helpful when I’m trying to cut corset pieces. How am I supposed to resist that face?
