I decided I might as well share some of my exercises here! I took some cat photos from Pinterest and threw them into Paint Tool Sai to trace them. This helped me understand cat anatomy a lot better, while being an amazing exercise for drawing digital lineart. I only trace the rough outline and directions of fur, and then I delete the photo for the "proper" lineart; giving weight to the lines, drawing details and shadows, etc. I'm planning to do this with more animals (and likely more cats, ngl). I used to draw only animals as a kid, and I want to go back to that and make animals my main focus ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Just finished a small fluffy cat base for anyone who would like to use it! It is completely free to use as long as you do the following - Do not remove the signature. You can recolour it or move it but it must be clear and visible on the drawing. just pwease leave the logo and/or credit me ;; this works best on a program where you can use layers. because some of the smaller details are lower opacity, what I do is color in an entire layer beneath this layer for the base, then select [with target on lineart layer] everywhere outside the lineart, then keep the selection while going to the color layer and erasing anywhere now-selected and outside the lines. then lock/preserve opacity/etc the color layer and color on that.
