The streets of the city were dirty butdirty in all the good ways for hungry little alley cats. Reaper hadmade an art out of deftly grabbing up dropped morsels of meat to eat, dashing off to protect what was his with hisses and growls. In hislittle corner of the city, he was the top cat.
That is, until a silver cat, morelithe and much faster, came leaping in, starting to snatch up foodhere and there and making Reaper actually have to wok to get hisshare. Reaper had hissed and tried to attack the wily littlethief in his domain but each time, the little grey feline got away, tailrigid with alarm as he darted away. The little grey cat, Genji, was something of an expert at hiding though and no matter where the black cat with the white face looked, there was no trace to be found when the other cat didn’t want to be found. It more or less led to a lot of frustration and more angry hisses of defeat.
In time though, Reaper hadgrown use to his opponent, even learning to live with the silver cathaunting about and it came a point where both could share the sameledge to sun without either one trying to chase the other off.Well more of Reaper trying to chase Genji off. The silver cat was more laid-back and friendly towards the other stray cats in the nearby areas who sometimes darted through.Regardless, peace had return to the snack street they lived on and sosometimes, when there was something interesting to find, the two weremore likely to share their little find. Today it was aninteresting little plant that had been set out on the windowsill ofone of the apartments, a strange little plant that, for some reason, just seemed…attractive. One savaged plant later and Reaper foundhimself laying belly up in the sun of a courtyard of the nearbyapartment complex, lazily swatting at the beams of sunlight comingdown, Genji stretched out at his side purring as he nuzzled up againstthe side of the larger black cat with the white face. Reaperlet out a mewling meow, trying now to swat at Genji, the other catresponding by swatting back but neither had much energy in theaction. The two were too overtaken by the strange plant, a plant theydidn’t know to be catnip. All either feline cared about was it madethe feel good, smelled good, and had led to a pleasant lay afternoon, lounging in the sun with the hum of the city all around. Justa happy, lazy, sunny day.
