New Altar Space!
So I had picked up a secretary desk for free to try and rehab it for a new altar space. Upon further inspection and consulting with my husband we made the decision that there wasn’t much to be done for it. It was just it to rough a shape.
So yesterday we went to Ikea and picked up a few things.
The box with the glass door is actually meant to be a floating wall shelf, but I decided to just place it on top of the KALLAX bookcase. My motivation behind getting something with a door was to keep my statues and offerings safe from my very inquisitive kitty cats.
The glass doors box on the left will house my Hades and Persephone offerings and altar. The white lantern in the middle will hold my altar for Aphrodite.
I want to pick up one more so that my Hygeia statue and offering cup can go inside it.
Spoil Your Perfect Kitty Friend: Introducing the Unknown Advantages of Feline Thick Mats
Hello, fellow cat enthusiasts! Are you ready to step up your kitty’s comfort game? Then you’re in for a treat. Today we are going to talk about cat thick mats and unveil some really surprising benefits that will make both of you purr with happiness.
Imagine this: you come back home exhausted after a long working day expecting to have a good cuddle with your furry friend. But instead of finding them lying comfortably on the couch, all scratched up cushions meet your eyes. Sound familiar? Don’t worry — you are not alone.
Many cat owners face the problem of keeping their furniture free from scratches while providing their cats with warm places to sleep. And here is where cat thick mats come into play! But what are these mats exactly? And how can they benefit my whiskered buddy? Let’s solve the puzzle together.
The Dilemma of Comfort
Firstly, let us address the elephant in the room (or rather, the cat on the sofa). Cats love comfort more than anything else. But that’s not hard to understand, is it? However much we love them — and we do love our furry friends with whiskers — their claws are sharp and they shed like nobody’s business. Unfortunately for our furniture.

Now onto solutions after problems have already been acknowledged; this time around let’s talk about what could be done about it! While providing comfort while protecting furniture from scratches and shedding are among many such comforts offered by floofy pads there is more than meets eye when looking into this fluffy matter too closely or thinking deeply enough about such matters like these:
Stress relief: Thickened mats provide a safe and calming environment for cats who might feel stressed due to changes in their environment or conflicts with other pets. In fact, believe it or not but stress affects felines just as it does human beings thereby being capable of impacting negatively on them health-wise thus making sure thickening mat serves as an escape route whenever necessary would be highly recommended based on personal experience alone which I think should count here.
Joint support: When cats get old they can suffer from arthritis among other joint related issues thus may find difficulties moving comfortably around especially when trying to relax somewhere. For this reason alone alone thicker mats will offer some gentle support that lets them rest easily without feeling any pain at all.
Regulating temperature: Additionally if not careful enough cats may overheat themselves since they naturally prefer warm places most times but also tend towards getting too hot sometimes without realizing it so to speak. What they need is a cool surface where they can lie down when feeling tired after playing around throughout the day or even night long therefore thickened mats would come in handy during such moments as these by providing them with just that kind of environment which will enable them remain comfortable all year round without any problems whatsoever if truth be told.
I can practically hear what you’re thinking. “What? My cat won’t use that,” or “It’ll just be covered in hair, anyway.” I understand exactly where you’re coming from; however, these concerns can be easily resolved.
My cat won’t use a mat: Cats are known for being finicky creatures. That much is true. But most cats will eventually learn to use a thickened mat with some gentle coaxing and training. For example, try putting their favourite toys on the mat to draw them in or reward them whenever they utilise it.
It will just end up covered in fur: True, the thickened mats do tend to collect fur. But they also happen to be far simpler to clean than your furniture — simply give them a quick shake or vacuum off any loose hairs.

Cat proof vases
As you all already met our sweet Ms Pepper, you can guess that during the process of decorating the house, she is not adding too much help, more behaving like a timing bomb:) Especially, when it comes to the issue with flowers. I love flowers, i can put them everywhere in different shapes and forms, Dany also loves flowers, may be because of me, however, it also brings home romantic and cosy atmosphere. Pepper on the another side loves to eat flowers, all shapes and forms. I have tried already special cat grass and some tricks with buying flowers, which she doesn't eat too much, but eventually they also end up in the her mouth or new game.
The worst part here is not even eating. As flowers by height are usually higher than she is , this smart girl is trying to push vase down, and you know what it means: water everywhere, Pepper running around happily and crazy and me.....crying over my beautiful bouquet on the floor.
Daniel once told me that we would need to buy some cat proof flower vases. I was feeling that he is kidding me like always:) however after carefully checking internet i have found the following:
Link: Oregon Live.
Source: Desde My Ventana blog.
Source: SHFT.
I still hope that Pepper will go through this "flower eating" age quickly and then i would need to preserve flowers in the boxes or just see them in the neighbours house:)
And how do you cope with cats and their strange addiction to flowers?
