Outdoor cats kill over 2 BILLION birds every year! Here's some illustrations I did for National Audubon Society of a few catios on the market. A great way to keep cats happy, and birds alive!

I build a catio (outdoor cat enclosure) in June 2022. I made a twitter thread for full progress. (all pics in the twitter thread also have alt text) This just mirrors the highlights.

There's a 2 ply cat door (for cold weather use) leading to the passageway. The enclosed box is where the litter box is. Actual catio is 10ft x 8ft and has three levels. After these photos, I redid the roof of the cat litter area so it had shingles and an angle. I also added a cabinet underneath for the cat litter supplies. Next year I may redo the roof of the passageway- due to the angle, water is always getting in the pway near the catdoor.

We FINALLY got to build a catio for our son 🖤

All of the shelves were from Ikea, and the rest was from Home Depot. It turned out to be a really cheap DIY and Earl loves it! I think he's going to have regular outside time now!

Today we are going to the store to buy some flooring and fake grass to put inside (for fun, and to keep his paws from slipping through the gaps).
