Mouch!
New Patrick Stump content from the catbite band
laura jane grace and catbite put their live album of operation ivy covers up on bandcamp!!!!
they mike wazowskied him 😭😭
do you have any ska recs? i feel like it's a genre i'd enjoy
hell yeah i do!! it should be said im far from an expert, but i have so much affinity for what ive experienced, so heres what ive got!!
Jer (aka Skatune Network) is the one that introduced me to the genre, with their brilliant covers as well as their original album BOTHERED/UNBOTHERED, which explores their struggles as a Black and Nonbinary person in modern america (you may have already heard their horn work in the ost of Steven Universe The Movie, specifically Isn't It Love!!)
Bouncing to the band i found through them is We Are The Union, which has a trans woman lead singer/front woman which led to the creation of the album Ordinary Life, about her journey!!
December in particular i really like for the visuals in the lyrics, but the whole album is a no skip
The other 2 groups I'll leave you with (which is just cause i only get 10 links in a post) are Catbite and Eichlers!!
Catbite has a few albums, with their first one being self titled, as well as Nice One, both of which rule (and also a later cover album of their first one which recovers their songs as Country and Punk versions, Catlite and Catfite)
Eichlers is a Hyperska band, whose album "My Checkered Future" is one i love having on any ska playlist!! Really fun to listen to, and some great lyricism
All of these acts are part of Bad Time Records, which is an independent label thats been a huge part of ska music sticking around, if you like punk, screamo, shoegaze, latin, or any kind of music (and especially with solid political messages), they almost certainly have something for you!!
sweetie pie
