Pretty fitting to post this on World Ocean Day, haha. Anyway, here's the other version of Temiree's scuba PNGTuber, commissioned by Greenfox! I wanted this to feel very otter-like, so why not draw Tem on his back catching fish? :3

I was playing Animal Crossing and I went to catch a fish, my character caught a sea bass and said, "What the fuck," and I got so scared that I woke up.

“Try it.”
You looked at it with a face full of disgust. Your eyes moved up to connect with his, no, he was serious.
“Bucky,” you hesitated. “It’s raw. I can’t eat raw fish.”
He chuckled. “You’re still thinking like a human. Merfolk eat fish fresh.”
Well, you couldn’t get fresher than this. Bucky had just caught it with his bare hands. Something you suspected he did to impress you. It worked clearly. You had heart eyes all the way, until he offered it to you.
“I think like a human because I was one less than a day ago!”
He shrugged. “If you had come into the sea earlier you would be used to it by now.”
It had been a little thing that he kept bringing up. You letting him wait. In his mind, had you come to sea quickly, he might have turned you sooner and things would have been great by now. You could only imagine how traumatic it would have been to navigate being a mermaid as a child without support from your parents.
…Your parents, and your friends, who would notice you missing by now. You tried to tell Bucky but he shrugged. They’re just human to him, and humans are….nothing. He cared that you were sad though. He hugged you and showed you pretty things to get your mind off of it. He told you, you would feel less bad. You didn't believe him but he told you it was different now.
“Just take a bite.”
He held it in front of your face again, the stream of blood of the fish hitting your nostrils and instead of gagging with the smell of it, it seemed appealing. But the idea of biting into the cold flesh, ripping a part off and chewing on the raw meat…it made you very uncomfortable.
“I’m not hungry,” you tried, but he clearly didn't fall for that obvious lie.
“You haven’t eaten anything in hours. And you need a lot of food. Your body needs it, you have only just turned and you need to gain your full strength. I can protect you, but I would feel better knowing you can take care of yourself.”
He eyed you, pouting. Those damn lips. And those beautiful eyes. He still had that power over you. You opened your mouth and he pushed the fish into it. Your teeth bit into the fleshy meat automatically and the skin parted. Blood streamed into your mouth and the meat broke off forcing you to chew. You did quickly, half gagging, until you actually tasted it. And …it wasn’t bad. It tasted good. It tasted really good. Before you knew it you had ripped the fish out of his hands and bit into it ferociously. I was gone before you knew it and you looked at your hands in surprise and confusion that you had finished it already.
Bucky laughed softly and took your hand. “Come on, we’ll find another.”
It was weird. You had just finished raw fish, cold and bloody and with bone and organs and all, and all you could think of was getting more.
You weren’t as fast as Bucky in the water, sluggish and less flexible, but he promised you would. As long as you ate enough. You would adapt, you just needed a little time.
