Uhhhh we’ve gone for a ‘canon’ pairing here, rather than a fanon one. We know it was played for laughs, but Havoc x Catherine Armstrong was WILD to us. They’re a total mismatch as a couple, so we’re really glad it was just a gag 😅
7. Least favorite headcanon?
When people take Roy’s “womanising” as a real thing. Like, congrats, you fell for it…
Unfortunately I’ve seen this in a LOT of Royai fic where Roy is just generally hoeing around
That man has ☝🏻 sofa in his entire apartment: do we really think he’s out here laying pipe?
If he don’t have time to decorate, he don’t have time to slut it up around Central 👏🏻
In my opinion, Roy has never had eyes for anyone besides Riza (except maybe a crush on Hughes in the academy that went nowhere) so it really irritates me when I see him being portrayed as an actual womaniser in fanfic 😒
I had a dream where Riza Hawkeye and... da da da daaa~ Major Armstrong’s little sister CATHERINE are DATING.
Like, Armstrong tells Riza that it is of utmost importance that she is properly introduced to the Armstrong family, as is tradition long held in the Armstrong family for generations upon generations... at an Armstrong pool party! Hosted by the head of the Armstrong family!
So yeah, Catherine has never told her parents (or the rest of her siblings) that she’s dating Riza. Probably because traditionally the ladies of the Armstrong family married men and vice versa. But Armstrong fully supports and encourages them in any way possible! Catherine is pretty calm about all this, convinced that her parents will understand but Riza is... uncharacteristically nervous about all this.
Once Jean Havoc finds out they’re dating, he’s appalled because not even Riza (as cool as she is) is as buff as Armstrong himself! Meanwhile the rest of the team convince Riza to go ahead to the pool party anyway.
And the pool is gigantic. Like one would find at a mansion. Pretty white concrete and bricks adorn it (somehow? It’s a dream, what did you expect?) It’s so huge that everyone at the party is just hanging out in the pool while snacking on biscuits and glasses of wine. Oh, and the biscuits and wine are on floating trays in the pool and somehow never knocked overboard?
“This is a grand pool,” Riza comments, trying to make small talk.
“Ah, yes!” Major Armstrong explains, “This pool has been in the Armstrong family for generations upon generations! Our ancestors built this-”
Armstrong blabbers on, pink sparkle and flexing biceps galore. Riza somehow sees pink sparkles around ALL the Armstrongs as they’re entranced by the glory stories of how the pool was built with pure muscle.
So there’s Riza, in the pool leaning back against an edge and using a glass of wine as a sort of metaphorical barrier between herself and the family. Everyone is talking and having a good time. However, Catherine’s mother speaks up:
“My darling Catherine, I must say, where is this handsome date of yours?” Mrs. Armstrong asks, smiling.
“Yes, yes,” Mr. Armstrong drawls, smoothing his curly mustache with his blunt fingertips, “It is most unfashionable to keep us waiting at this party, I must say.”
Riza spits out her wine in disbelief. As far as she knew she was the only non-Armstrong there.
Then this whole time the party is going on, Olivier is leery eyed towards Riza (because y’know she’s smart and protective of Catherine. Like I’ve never actually read or watched that far into FMA manga/Brotherhood anime.)
The whole family looks around, and see Catherine smiling cutely towards Riza who is visibly sweating drops of beads on her forehead. They’re shocked, but not in disgust, just merely surprised and perhaps a bit disappointed because Riza ISN’T buff like one should marry into the Armstrong family. As they’re nitpicking at her like:
“I can barely see any muscle.”
“Can she even lift a piano?”
And so on and so forth.
With every comment the family slowly moves towards Riza, and she is shaking as if holding herself back from going apeshit, BUT HECK. She grabs her pistol that’s somehow been undetected this whole time and snugly fit on her hip while using her swimsuit bottom as a gun belt somehow?? She points it at the family, who raise their arms and immediately shut their mouths.
“My name is Hawkeye for a reason,” Riza seethes.
Meanwhile Catherine is still smiling, not even a hint of worry on her face, and Armstrong nods. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong look at one another, a bit confused and maybe unsure. But upon closer inspection...
“Ah! I see!” Mr. Armstrong exclaims, “You are strong! Yes, quite so.”
“Yes!” Mrs. Armstrong gushes, “Catherine loves men as buff as her elder brother Alex and women as buff as her elder sister Olivier!”
Riza spits out more wine once this is pointed out.

Word Count: 653
Author: aquietwritingcorner/realitybreakgirl
Rating: T
Characters: Mama Armstrong, Philip Gargantos Armstrong, Catherine Elle Armstrong
Warning: N/A
Summary: No one was expecting Catherine to come along. But given Genevieve Armstrong’s age, complications shouldn’t have been surprising.
Notes: I headcanon that, given the age difference between Catherine and the rest of her siblings, she was both a surprise and a late baby, which caused complications for Genevieve Armstrong (Mama Armstrong)

Too Weak To Move
There was activity. All around her there was activity. Genevieve knew it was happening. She could see it, hear it, feel it, but she couldn’t participate in it. It was around her. It was around where her baby had been whisked off to. It was around the room. But none of it told her anything she wanted to know.
“My baby,” she said. “My baby…” Her voice was weak, much weaker than she was expecting it to be, even for this level of exhaustion.
“Shh, Mrs. Armstrong, just hang in there. They doctors are checking her over. Just hang on.”
If there was one thing that Genevieve Marie Tallmound Armstrong didn’t want to do, it was hang on. This had been a surprise pregnancy, and a risky one from the start. She had honestly thought that she was through having children after Alex. Certainly, she and Philip had tried, but nothing had ever come about.
And then, suddenly, with her other children either grown, or mostly grown, she discovered herself to be pregnant. It was a surprise to them all and, at her age, a risk. The doctors had been concerned. She had been highly watched and monitored. She had not been allowed to do much of anything and had mostly convalesced in the mansion for the past nine months.
And when her water had finally broken, a couple of weeks overdue, she had been taken to the medical wing of the mansion, and the labor had begun.
She had known from the beginning that this was not like the other labors she had been through. It had echoes of Olivier’s labor, with the concerns of a low birth weight and a stubborn refusal to leave, but there was still something different about this labor. It was… sharper. On edge. It felt like something wasn’t quite right from the start. The pushing had felt wrong, the way things were happening had felt wrong, and nothing had felt quite right.
Still, what choice did she have, but to continue? None, and they all knew it.
It was hours later when she had felt the baby finally slip free of her, saw it whisked away, and awaited her afterbirth. She worried, though. It was such a high-risk pregnancy, and the baby had been tracking as so small. Was it alright? Were there birth defects? Were there problems? Would it need surgery? Was it healthy or not? The worries didn’t leave her mind as she delivered the afterbirth, and when her child wasn’t back with her after that, her worry only increased.
It was only assuaged when Philip approached her, a tiny bundle in his arms. “Genevieve, my dear,” he said. “Meet our daughter.”
“Is… is she…?” She was still out of breath, still exhausted, but Philip seemed to understand.
“She’s very small, but as far as the doctors can tell, she’s healthy.”
Genevieve smiled, and she tried to push up to see, but found that she couldn’t. Her arms wouldn’t get under her, she couldn’t raise them up to try to hold her daughter. It was like there was no energy left in her body.
Philip’s expression changed. “My love?” he said
She wanted to respond, but suddenly that seemed like a great challenge. Her ears were ringing, and her sight seemed to narrow. She heard Philip yelling something, although she wasn’t sure why, and suddenly she felt hands on her, moving her, checking over her. She kept her eyes on her baby, though. Even if she was too weak to move, she kept her eye on her daughter.
“Catherine…”
Her energy was flagging, she wasn’t sure what was going to happen next, and she was too weak to even reach up and touch her daughter. But at least she was safe. That was all that Genevieve needed. She just needed to know that her daughter was safe, because nothing else mattered.
Am I the only one who wonders where the hell Amue and Strongine were in the lead up to the Promised Day? Like, we see Catherine and the parents leave for Xing but we don’t see Amue and Strongine go with them. Did they go too, or did they stay home and get sucked into the nationwide philosopher’s stone? It also says a lot that they don’t appear at all when Alex and Olivier are tearing up the house during their duel- were they just not home, or do Olivier and Alex just brawl so often they saw no reason to investigate?
