when: morning after this article drops where: max & catherine’s bedroom who: @catherinestuart
For once it was his phone, and not hers that woke them. Max groaned softly, then reached for his phone, careful not to disturb Catherine asleep against his chest. No one who worked for him had ever really taken his ‘emergencies only before 6am’ decree seriously, but he couldn’t entirely blame them. It would be too soon for the German’s to have substantially reacted to his countermeasures, but he scrolled through the notifications just to be sure. But the they were not the cause for concern this morning, rather the little coward in his bed. Max swore and sat up fully, no longer caring if he disturbed her.
“Catherine,” his tone was harsh, both with the morning and his anger, “did you or your mother get a question about Basel?” It felt blasphemous to speak of her connection to the invaders with the taste of her still lingering on his tongue from the night before - but his temper had always managed to drown out most sentimentality. “Or Scotland’s relationship with them?”
