Hello, I am a catholic born and raised. How do I become a catholic witch? What are the steps I have to take?

Happy New Year to my Catholic lovelies! It just dawned on me I should do a financial spell tonight. What do you have planned?

Okay so I'm a witch, debating whether to return to my Catholicism. But this necromancy thing has me stumped. Because so so so often I ask my ancestors for help in making decisions, as well as ask for their guidance through tarot and the like. But apparently this is divining the future and therefore counts as necromancy? Are we allowed to "pray" to the dead and ask for their prayers, but just not ask them for help with future events?

Talking to the dead and praying for their souls and their intercession is fine.

Divination to understand God’s instruction is fine.

I pray to the Saints, angels, Mary, and family members to pray for me and direct my prayers to God for the future plans God has for me all the time. I hazard it would be difficult to find someone who would say this is wrong.

Look up the hard definitions of what the words mean. Step back and look at what you are wanting to do. What you describe in your ask is not off limits.

Im catholic and i have been researching witches and i was wondering what kind of things do you do daily and if what you do is against the catholic religion.

I hope you are enjoying your research.

I pray daily. I read the Bible and pray the Rosary several times a week.

I do not practice necromancy, work with poisons, try to divine God’s will or do anything without thanking God and praying for his approval.

I have a question that's kind of stupid, i'm sorry. you seem really knowledgeable and I thought I'd give it a try. I totally understand if you don't want to answer it though, you can totally skip it. so, I've been researching witchcraft for a little bit and have been thinking of practicing witchcraft. the only thing is, the Catholic god is the God i have a relationship ( I was raised catholic) and the only one I want to have a relationship with because of my beliefs. but (1/2)

(2/2) years ago I suffered a trauma from which I never really gotten over. my relationship with God has been rocky ever since because I don’t really feel “why me” but more “why would you allow this to happen to humans at all?” I stopped going to church because it made me upset to hear people praising God when I felt so hurt and abandoned, you know? but I’ve been praying and working on my relationship with God and think witchcraft may help strengthen this relationship. do you think I (2/3)

(3/3) could start on my path to becoming a Catholic witch even if my relationship isn’t the strongest? like, do you think it would be offensive/hypocritical to God be asking them for help with spells when I’ve spent time being angry at them? I’m so sorry this is so long!!! also, I realize this could be controversial, I completely understand if you want to skip it 

This is one of those asks where I can just feel the emotion you have so deeply connected with your faith. It sounds like you may be called to this path to do exactly that, to strengthen your relationship with God. As long as you thank God and ask His approval for what you are doing, I see nothing offensive nor hypocritical about it.

I’d start by praying more. The first workings I would do would be to ask for the peace that only God’s love can bring and to feel His grace upon you.

Do you think it is appropriate for a Catholic witch to offer food/drink offerings to saints and angels? I'm just barely starting out and it feels right, in the sense of offering something nice to close friends who have done a lot for me, but I'm kind of hung up on the idea of "offering food to idols" (lol guess who was raised Protestant) and would just like another person to weigh in. Thanks so much for your lovely blog!

I see it as no different than leaving a rosary or flowers at the foot of a statue of a Saint or Angel. It’s a lovely act of thanksgiving. Perhaps, you could leave them in a space set apart for such acts that does not have anything that could be construed as an idol?

So I was born a cradle catholic, but I haven't been practicing for a long while. I've been interested in witchcraft, but wanted to stay in the faith. Hearing there is such thing as a Catholic witch is awesome! Getting to the point, where do I start?

do you think spells can through one's own personal energy and/or through God's will? idk if this makes any sense, but as a catholic witch, i'm wondering. what are your thoughts?

All that my spellwork is is elaborate prayers to God. If His will does not do the work, it doesn’t happen.

In each working, I pray to thank Him for allowing me the free will to do my working, I thank Him for His gifts, I ask His approval on what I am doing, and I ask that if anything I am doing offends or goes against His plan that it does not work.

We are all made in His image with gifts unique to each of us. I cannot say for other witches, but for me, God does the hardest work and I am ever so thankful for Him.
