Christians: We must use our religious text as a basis for our laws and our government.
Conservatives: Yes yes I agree I agree. Praise God.
If any other religion tried that: We must use our religious texts as a basis for our laws and our government.
Conservatives: HOW DARE YOU TRY TO FORCE YOUR RELIGION ON ME???? GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!!!!

Beautiful statue of Our Lady by where I lit my candle :)
hot take on the “““non-judgmental””” catholics in my irl circle of friends...recently i had to sit through a very animated conversation about how “people always think we hate gay people but we don’t! we love them just the same even though--” and that’s where i tuned out. that simple “even though” phrase is so subtly heartwrenching because of what it implies. “we love you even though your marriages are invalid in the eyes of God.” “we love you even though you’re going against God’s will.” “we love you even though you’re wrong.” this may be Shocking but claiming to love lgbt+ people while pairing it with hateful “qualifiers” isn’t loving them. it’s disguising your homophobia while still expecting a pat on the back for it.
same with misc. christians who are of the ‘yes gay people are sinning, but every sin is the Same and we still need to love them :)’ and i say misc. christian specifically bc roman catholicism is VERY into separating out their sins into different categories, but being gay is not a sin. God made you this way, and implying that the way He made you to be a sin is probably not gonna get you far.
