Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

This is my first time to participate & their is a new segment, the question of the week: Introduce Yourself.

Well my name is Amanda & I live in Little Rock, Arkansas. I suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). With mine I worry about things I have no control over. This causes me to have panic attacks. I am a cradle Catholic, left the faith, and finally reverted back. I do not go to church on a weekly basis because of transportation issues, something I hope to work on soon. Oh and I am single. 

I started this blog to talk about my faith journey and as a spiritual journal of sorts. I do have some trouble expressing myself online which is funny because I am a writer (nonfiction). I have started and stopped and started up this blog again. If I can blog on a regular basis I may move on to a bigger platform.

Birthday Update

Today is my birthday. And I am still hanging in on the total consecration. I am feeling a difference in myself as I progress this time. Its very subtle. I have had my internal clock reset somehow (not by choice lol) and I am up by 5:30 so it gives me time to do the days readings for the consecration. I also want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to everyone. 

My Aunt is going to have surgery to amputate her other leg. She does not look good and I am worried she won't make it. Prayers please if possible.

Letting go (Of my tv)

So far I am hanging in there on total consecration. I use the app in the am and do the prayers then I read the corresponding day in 33 Days to Morning Glory. So glad I have done that. There is also a website that developed the app that also has the devotion. Total Consecration

I have also been living without a tv since Sunday. I decided to try and let go of something that is a time waster. I do still have my computer and can watch tv when someone isn't watching. But mostly I have been catching up on my podcasts and hopefully my writing soon! I might get a new tv in a few months after we move but for right now I don't see the need for one and feel good with my decision to let go of something that consumed a lot of my time.

An Update

I have not been posting much because I have been busy. A lot of drama going on where I work (outside forces bringing the drama lol). I did get a most excellent evaluation for my first evaluation at work. Still have yet to go to confession, will try this Saturday. 

Right now I am working on developing a Rule of Life. I will post more about this later on but I am praying for everyone!!

Random Catholic Questions 5 & 6

What retreats have you attended? What retreats have you served on? I attended retreats at school once in the 8th and then every years 9-12. The 12th grade one was an overnight one. These retreats did nothing for me. They really had little substance.  I have never served on a retreat.  I do want to go on retreat one of these days perhaps a Cursillo.

Random Catholic Questions No. 3

How did your school affect your growth in the faith?  

A: Well since I went to a parochial school I went to mass at least once during the week (besides Sunday). Also we had Stations of the Cross and Adoration during the year. I will confess I liked mass and stations and adoration because we got out of class time. Horrid of me? I guess. But it is something now I look on fondly. 

The bad part was bullying. I was bullied in both elementary and high school (went to an all girl's Catholic for HS) and an incident at High School was one of the things that went on to contribute to my leaving the faith in my 20s.

Random Catholic Questions No. 1

I am going to answer these questions posted by My Little Catholic Corner over the next few weeks. The first questions is: Cradle Catholic or Convert?

I am a cradle Catholic. Born into a Catholic family, baptized, and went to Catholic school 1-12. However I fell away from the Church and joined a protestant one. Then I fell away from that one. Then I reverted to Catholicism again and then I fell away and rejoined the protestant one. That second time it did not last for very long at all. I decided I was not a protestant but I was a very bad Catholic. And since then I have reverted for the final time to my Catholic faith. 

I am not a perfect Catholic. No, far from it. But I try every day to live my faith and remain truthful and faithful to the Church.
