Hi there, I just saw your SW/Harrison Ford post and I completely agree with you. He was insanely attractive in SW and also Indiana Jones (which I absolutely love). I was wondering if you ever thought of writing a Gadge!Indiana Jones ff? One day maybe? I'd love you forever and send you virtual cookies :)
You found me on a day when I really, really, REALLY didn't want to do RL work. Behold: Indiana Jones!Gale and Anachronistic Opinions About Museums!Madge. (Also I feel like there's already a gadge like this...somewhere. Did I hallucinate that?)
Gale released his grip on the rope and dropped the last three feet into the tomb as his hat fell off. The small patch of moonlight where he’d climbed down was the only source of illumination and the paintings on the walls seemed to move as he strode purposefully towards the hidden room he knew would hold countless treasures.
The hiss of a match startled him and he whirled around to find her standing there, like some sort of ancient goddess in linen slacks. “Looking for something?” she purred as she lit her torch.
“Undersee,” he grumbled. “You know what I’m here for.” He waited for the trap to spring--they hadn’t been racing each other to find this tomb for so long for her to let him walk away unscathed.
She wrinkled her nose playfully. “Then you’re too late--the treasure room is empty. Go see for yourself. Pity you put so much effort into this when I was always going get here first.”
“Thief,” he cursed. “Those things belong in a museum.”
“Those things belong to the people of Egypt, not some American grave robber,” she retorted.
“Like you give a damn about the people of Egypt.”
Madge arched a delicate eyebrow. “I grew up here. You’ve surely heard of my father--he was the British governor here for, oh, fifteen years?” Flames from her torch sent shadows dancing across her face and hair as she paced toward him. “I speak Arabic like a native and I learned to swim in the Nile. Egypt is in my blood and bones, and I’ll be damned if I let an American take their treasures away so everyone else but the Egyptian people can see them.”
“Safe,” she replied, and Gale narrowed his eyes at her, furious not only that she’d beaten him but that she wouldn’t even give him the satisfaction of being the horrible spoiled brat he’d always thought she was.
Gale brushed past her and returned to his rope. If this tomb was empty there was no point to him being here.
“Gale, wait!” she called and hurried over. She gently placed his hat back on his head and leaned close enough that he caught a whiff of her perfume. “We’re headed to the Valley of Kings next. I’ll even give you a half a day head start.” And with that she kissed his cheek and stepped back, smiling to herself as he hauled himself back up.
Half a day wouldn’t be nearly enough.
