So, for a long time Alexander Auler (Vienna Munkustrap) had, as the thumbnail for his Cats insta highlights, an image that looked like it might be him in Bill Bailey makeup, but it was too small and blurry to be sure.

Well, in his farewell post (😭), he dropped the whole photo—and it's even better than expected!

He and his partner Matt Levick swapped faces and did each other's makeup as their own cat!

Marcel Visscher and Stanley Burleson got engaged!!!

Marcell Visscher was Skimbleshanks in the 2006–07 Dutch tour of Cats; Stanley Burleson was a swing and then Munkustrap in the original Dutch production (Amsterdam 1987–88), and came back to play Tugger for about a month in the Dutch tour in Amsterdam for the twentieth anniversary of that original production.

Look, real talk for a moment? This is beautiful and it tugs at my heart.

As someone who's spent over a decade training in an industry / vocational environment where you're lucky if you can find a non-casual position for a year or two even in the country of your choice, let alone end up, say, in the same institution as your SO for long enough to build a life together...

... it hurts me and it makes me very very happy to see moments like this, where Matthew Levick can just flip across the stage and his partner Alexander Auler can be there every night to see him and say YES THAT'S MY BOY HE'S AWESOME. (plus delicate leggie, because, aulerstrap.)

Adulting and stability are becoming so much harder lately, and all the more so for devalued jobs like the arts, so. Moments like this, worth appreciating. And envying.

Be beautiful together, boys. ❤️
