WereCats makeup designs
I've been playing around with makeup designs for a while now (since before I started drawing the costume designs) and figured I'd share the ones I've done thus far! for characters I've not posted (or done) costume designs for yet, I'll keep their characterisation for then, but I'll list their understudy tracks!
let's start with some Swings
Patches (kitten/young adult swing) Patches is honestly one of my favourite designs - he's where I decided I prefer that shape/style for the muzzles, so picture all the wider-set muzzles with this more curled upward design lol. his makeup design is based primarily on the swing role of the same name from the original London production. He covers the tracks for Carbucketty, Tumblebrutus, Bill Bailey, George, Pouncival, Gilbert, Admetus and the Henchcats (and their ensemble roles; James, Peter and Jonothan) - the Henchcats would be the only roles where he'd have a separate costume/makeup.
Spike (kitten/young adult swing) Spike is a really fun design with pops of dark, reddish/brownish pinks and splashes of dark blue and is loosely based on the Noily Prat designs from the Austrilasia tours of the 2000s/early 2010s. She covers the tracks for Olivia, Etcetera, Electra, Sillabub, Fantasia, Luna and Autumn
Apollo (kitten swing) Apollo is kinda a hodge-podge of design inspiration - the white striped muzzle from the psychic twins, the eye patches kinda based on different Pouncival designs I've seen, some shapes and colours inspired by the Shiki Gilbert and Carbucketty designs, but I think he turned out cute! (no idea why i did his mouth/muzzle so small...) He covers the tracks for Pouncival, George, Carbucketty, Tumblebrutus and Bill Bailey
Calliope (kitten swing) Calliope is very much inspired by every production who has a pink Jemibub. pastel pinks and soft features were very much the vibe I lead with. She covers the tracks for Sillibub, Electra, Etcetera and Olivia.
Ensemble time!
Autumn Autumn's design is based on a mix of the updated UK Jennyanydots design and Anna Camkin's swing character (and Autumn's namesake) Autumn's actor would be first-cover Victoria, second-cover Jellylorum.
Luna Luna's design is inspired by the Fulton psychic twins design, but kinda inverted. Her actor would be second-cover Coricopat.
Fantasia Fanta's design is kinda a mix of Fulton's Sillabub and Mexico 2013's Electra (kinda only in colour, though) also, this was done a while ago, and I don't think she'd have a scar on her nose anymore, so just ignore that lol. Her actor would be second-cover Tantomile.
Hysperia Hysperia is basically a femme Plato/Admetus kind of design (in that she's a basic brown kitty with white in the centre of her face lol) Her actress would be first-cover Jennyanydots, second-cover Demeter
Exotica Exotica is a chocolate-point siamese, so I used designs from makeup looks based on that breed for my inspiration pics, though she was pretty easy to get down. Exotica's actor would be first-cover Coricopat and second-cover Victoria
Admetus I used the updated Admetus/Plato design for the layout, but changed the brown to a gold/yellow, since his costume is based on goldlonzo. (I originally didn't have any scars, since I don't think Admetus is a protector/gets into fights too often, but his design looked too empty without them) Admetus's actor would be second-cover Alonzo
Peter/Henchcat 2 Peter's design was inspired by the Fulton Admetus, but I wanted to add more green patches, and his track's Henchcat design was kinda just improvised on top of it (definitely needs refining...) according to the notes I've got, Peter's actor wouldn't understudy anyone, but that could change with an actual cast)
Quaxo/Macavity I debated putting him in with the lead/supporting designs, but since the track is Quaxo for most of the show, I decided to pop him in here. His Quaxo design is kinda based on, like, a masc Bombalurina vibe (note, the design here I tried to do as a makeup quick change from Mac to Quaxo in the time from the end of Overture to the beginning of Naming - did not make the timing, but oh well - so he's not as detailed as I necessarily would want) and his Macavity design is based on the proshot Macavity look. His actor would be first-cover Tugger.
Leads/Supporting
Victoria Okay, the first pic was taken a while back, and the second is a screenshot after narrowly getting her makeup done in the time between the end of the overture and her re-entrance (the boot drop section before the pyramid in Jellicle Songs), so I sincerely doubt even with one or two people doing her makeup, she'd have nearly the level of detail she does in the initial design. also, I used fake blood in the first pic, but I fear it would run too much, so I changed to a blood-coloured face paint mix I have (ngl, I also completely forgot where I originally put her scratch when I was speed-running it).
Munkustrap my beloved. like Vicky, very much just the original design with added scars (also, my friend said I lowkey look like Jarrod Draper in the Munk makeup - I don't necessarily see it, but I'll take the major compliment lol)
Tugger basically a brown version of the Munk makeup with a lil heart and gold eyeshadow. I also think I'd cut back the scars, since Munk would protect his little brother like crazy.
Alonzo A mix of London-based Lonzo inspirations, but I added a lil bit of pink onto his schnoz. I adore him so much.
Bombalurina She's kinda a mix of a bunch of Bomba pics I looked at for reference/inspo idk. I did also add the red lips for her cause the look just didn't feel like Bomba without it, so I decided that she and a few of the other femme characters would actively put on lipstick for the ball, like, it's not a part of their fur pattern. (and that scar would be far less red - it'd be an older one from when she rescued Deme from Macavity)
Misto Honestly, I did this as a mockup of my dnd character (I'm in an amnesia campaign and I happened to be given a tabaxi bard, his name's Steve, I've commited to a bit where I roll a d6 every now and then to change his accent - 1=basic Brit, 2=Scottish, 3=cockney, 4=agressively Aussie, 5=basic American, 6=Texan - I love him so much), but I based the design on Misto anyways, so I figured I may as well use it as the WereCats Misto design lol
okie dokies, that's all the designs I've done atp, they're my little goobers, I love them, I love destroying my skin to look like a cat for 5 seconds to take pics before wiping it all off and starting again.
