Gonna make a brief return to my pining series for Junjou Romantica!

Specifically theres that extra chapter (somewhere I dunno) thats a flashback to Usagi-san tutoring Misaki and being a bit of an ass and Misaki storms off angry and doesn't go back for like a week or so, then when he decides to go back, the trains are shut down because of the snow, oop turns out Usagi came to apologize and pick him up, THAT chapter.

ANYWAY, I want to draw a bit of pining from Usagi-san's perspective after the fight but before he goes to apologize

Junjou Romantica playlist

So I was going through some old art and found some old Junjou Romantica fanart I drew back in 2012! (I was 17)

There was some other fanart I was trying to find, but couldn't, but I thought it'd be fun to share this!

A lot of the Junjou Romantica fanart I drew back then was actually fanart for the fanfic I wrote at that time, which was this historical one that took place in 1847 but was VERY European centric lol.

No new art because I just moved to a new apartment and have been dealing with that exhaustion.

BUT I was able to unearth some old sketchbooks from storage, and before I send them to be stored with my dad for the next year, I'm going to go through them and find some old art because I KNOW I drew some Junjou Romantica fanart back in Highschool and I absolutely must find it.

Is the fanart just me trying my hardest to copy the covers? Yes, but I still want to find what I did and share here

Quick little sketch of Usagi-san and Misaki (I imagine Usagi-san kissing Misaki awake like this a lot)

HC that the reason Misaki is so determined to be a "normal" teenager vs how he views Usagi-san (weird rich kid with a complex who is Not Normal and he is way more normal than Usagi-san, thank you very much, he's Mr. Normal in fact) is because of his parents death and the role he and his brother had to take on with each other after the fact.

Like. He's obsessed with being normal and wanting a normal life with normal people in it because he didn't get that. Not like he thinks he did. His parents died when he was 8 and his brother had to raise him, so he goes out of his way to make up the difference. He desperately craves a normal, nuclear family despite his feelings towards Usagi-san and his feelings towards his own sexuality (even if thats not what he truly wants, he thinks he wants it, he's convinced himself he wants it so, so badly). He's idealized the concept of normalcy so much that he's convinced himself that he had a perfectly normal life even AFTER his parent's death. Granted, Takahiro tried his best to give that to Misaki, but the poor man was on his own, and inevitably, Misaki had to grow up really fast in order to help take care of himself and his older brother (cleaning, cooking, errands, he's basically taken on the stereotypical wife role by the age of 11).

So he tries to bring some of that normalcy in when he starts living with Usagi-san.

Unfortunately Usagi-san is a weird ass little freak of a man

Also I think that’s why he likes when Usagi says to him that he needs Misaki’s help on knowing what a normal family is like. Like Usagi actually thinks the Misaki and Takahiro are a great family unit. Better than his. And he loves learning about commoner stuff that Misaki knows.

Like… Usagi already believes Misaki *is* what he wants to be… a “normal” teenager. Which idk is just kind nice. I don’t think it solves Misaki’s issues or anything like that, but it shows that it’s only a problem only Misaki has with himself.

This is such a great addition though! And on point 100%! Misaki is so extremely self critical its insane. I'm rereading the manga (again) and he is always worried about being a burden and so worried about wanting to be normal and he's so hard on himself for both, but if he were to bring up his worries about burdening Usagi-san, Usagi would DEFINITELY be like "What... The hell are you talking about?" because Usagi has never and will never see him as a burden, he sees Misaki as normal, "Boring" even (volume 9 when Kaoruko-san is introduced lol), but yeah he is so so so hard on himself and his actions and his feelings, but he is so LOVED its insane. I love him

Wanted to do something a little different and draw Usagi-san and Misaki sliiiightly more realistic, and overall I'm very happy with how these came out! Obviously the one where they're together is not a true reflection of their height difference, if it was, Misaki would be mostly out of frame. (like this:)
